Help Please - Sort of emergency in the Netherlands!

Hi All,

I came here to Den Haag to do a little work quite a few weeks ago. It was originally for a week and a half, but they needed cover, so I ended up here for many weeks now (really good terms and work conditions). I went home to Essex at the weekend, got back here on Monday morning for at least three weeks more, and found my 1989 LHD 110 (with 300tdi conversion) taken apart partially. Seats are gone (luckily, I had taken the middle row out before coming here), engine's gone, various other parts gone, bulkhead damaged from bits being removed, dashboard destroyed (and it took me ages to find this LHD newish dashboard). The police say it looks as though they were coming back for more, the way things had been left (the landy was covered somewhat, and pieces you would expect to have been removed hadn't been, such as a few of my belongings in the back (they were covered, but still.....).

I have found a mechanic here whose father works on landys, and he'll do all the work for me for Eur40 per hour, which seems very fair. He's got a 1993 110 300tdi, so he said he can just check mine against his as he goes on, to ensure he hasn't forgotten anything. I need a lhd bulkhead (I do have a td5 one in England, but there's no way my wife can get to it for me, and also, it needs to be shotblasted, treated, galvanised) and I need yet another lhd dashboard (not amazingly urgent, but necessary....and it took me absolutely ages to get this one). I need some doors, windows and a few bits and bobs. I have all these bits in Essex, but bringing them over is not an option as I cannot get home for at least two or three weeks. Also, I don't want to wait, so don't want to buy from anyone back home. I need bits here, as and when I need them, rather than sending off for them from home.

I remember there being a specialist Land Rover breaker here in Holland, but despite spending about 5 hours online today, I just can't find him. I remember visiting his site earlier this year, but just can't find it anymore. Does anyone know of this chap? I understand that he doesn't do anything buy landys, and am desperate to find him now. Any help at all to find this Dutch land rover scrap dealer would be most appreciated.

Cheers very much,

S

Shant -

I'm in The Hague, not sure of the Landy breakers that you are referring to, but I know that there is one up in Ter Horst.

If you need an extra pair of hands/a bit of help/a sympathetic ear and a pint get in touch.

EDIT: there is a nice list of Land Rover businesses on the LRCH website here

EDIT2: This is the place I was thinking about RangeRoverRecycling.nl

Thank you! You are brilliant!

Daan sent me the details of Ron Bolleboom and the Land Rover Club (which you also gave me); I'll try to get Ron Bolleboom again tomorrow, but the one I had been thinking of when I originally posted was Hank, the one you gave me. I heard he is really good and will try to get hold of him tomorrow; I searched and searched for him, for so many hours, so am so grateful to you for the link to his site. Thank you so much!

A pint would be great...are you based here? I have to say, The Hague is my favourite city in Europe, and my surgical colleagues here are great; more professional than at any other hospital unit I have ever worked at.

You can give Guenter a call. He's located in Germany - only 4 hours from The Hague so shipping shouldn't be a problem. He's got a lot of used parts in good condition (e.g. doors). I was in contact w/ him after my roll-over, very friedly contact.

  • 1 month later...

I just wanted to thank everyone who helped me out, and repeat my thanks to both Daan and Cranberry.

I also wanted to thank Davede90, Waldorf, Ruurd, berti1554 and Finn....who I did not get a chance to thank when they had posted. Everyone was so much help, and I am really very appreciative!

Thank you so much!
