nickwilliams
So, does any one know what are the part numbers for the replacement drop arm and steering link rod then? It tuns out I'm going to have to take the swivels off the ends of the axles this weekend anyway, so I may as well do this mod at the same time if I can get all the bits together. Am I right in thinking that the Discovery link rod has no fitting for a damper, hence the need for a home-brewed/after market solution? Nick. garymorris
I've done this mod about 5 years ago or so and it's been an absolutely brilliant one, instead as some else has said it taking me at least 1/2 a day to change over that daft drop arm ball joint It now takes me 10 minutes a side to change over, and as long as you copper slip the threads then it'll be even easier to do-I've attached a pic to show you how mine is HTH John I have a defender and want to do this mod , I also have a drop arm exactly the same as the John's , are these the heavy duty arms I require ? http://www.paddockspares.com/pm1011-heavy-duty-steering-rods-for-range-rover-classic-and-discovery-1-with-3-lemforder-oe-ball-joints.html I'm guessing I'll need an extra balljoint (LH ?) eds
You will need a disco drag link and a special bracket to take the steering damper http://www.qtservices.co.uk/parts/land-rover-defender-110/steering-defender-110/b1047a-steering-damper-_steering-damper-b1047a.html Then a TRE for both ends of the drag link
garymorris
It's O.K , I sussed it now , I got confused because paddocks only had 3 ball joints with the rods in the link above (which is actually for a bent drop arm) when I had a look on page 2 there is a set with 4 ball joints for the straight disco drop arm
defender dinky
I have got a discovery 200tdi tre damper draglink panard, and steering box can I fit this lot to my defender 90 which means the damper is on the back draglink tre bar instead of the front dd
