Les Henson
Positive, although I don't see a problem with putting it on the negative. Les.

disco2hse
Do you have single or dual battery setup? If dual, do you have a VSR, split charge diode or some other means for balancing charging? How and where you put an isolator can vary depending on who made the gear and of what type it is. Otherwise, either side of the single battery makes no real difference unless you have items that are wired directly to it.
mmgemini
Are you fitting a battery isolater switch or a proper FIA battery battery master switch. With the firts it doesn't matter, The only thing that can happen is if you switch off with the engine running, the engine will stay running because the alternater is still providing power to the electrics, eventually the alternator will fail. Not good as a securi8ty measure. The FIA switch must be fitted to the positive lead. Wired correctly it is also a kill switch for the engine. You can also wire it to allow the interior lighs and alarm to work when it is switched off. HTH
