Alternator Wiring - HELP - what goes where ??

Recommended Posts

Yes I have done a search :P

BUT

I am trying with mate to wire up the new engine and its alternator, and am stuck !

Unit is a DRA3676 poss a Reme Delco ?

It has 3 x terminals on the back

1 x Big one - (see piccie on the Left Hand Side)

Middle has a little stud and a 3rd on the right

It looks like some of the plastic has broken off from the edge of the

big terminal on the Left, but there is a D+ to the right of the big terminal,

then W to the right of D+ and thats it !

HELP

What goes where ?

Nige

Right hand small terminal will be W, the rev counter feed.

Middle terminal D+, pre-excitation circuit (in other words, the warning lamp feed)

Big terminal is B+, main feed to the battery (and if you didn't figure that one out Nige, you really should get a grown up to help!)

EDIT : And you didn't search very hard, the second link on Google after searching for the part number you listed contains :-

Nige

B - battery positive

D - warning light

Do not use W terminal - this is used for rev counters on diesels. Yours wasnt diesel the last time i looked, so take your tacko feed directly from the edis unit where it is already.
