I.B.ASH
Hello. Im buying new callipers for my 1986 ex-mod 90, SEB500440 front right & SEB500450 front left (solid discs), but Im not sure what the serial numbers are for the extra bits like the pins/retention kits, and what ever else goes with the callipers (I have the pads). Do you guys know? I have checked out retroanacondas technical page and parts book, but mine are pre 1987, or may be Im just not looking properly? Cheers
Maverik
There are 2 different sets of pads you can get, one set uses pads with 2 holes in the top corners which you need a pin set and springs, or the other pads need retaining type springs... a few links: These pads: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-DEFENDER-1987-2006-2007-FRONT-BRAKE-PADS-/170886182802?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item27c99c3792 Need these pins: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DEFENDER-BRAKE-PAD-FITTING-KIT-PINS-SPRING-85mm-SOLID-PIN-RTC5001-/390396791589?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5ae5764b25 A set: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-DEFENDER-110-REAR-BRAKE-PADS-c-w-PIN-KIT-/370489636924?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5642e7383c OR These pads and fittings: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DEFENDER-110-FRONT-BRAKE-PADS-GENUINE-EARLY-TYPE-/390275678298?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5ade3e405a Mav
Snagger
If you're replacing the pistons, then I'd recommend Zeus' stainless pistons as they will save you from doing it again so soon. They weren't badly priced and were extremely well finished - I have fitted two complete sets and have been very impressed.

I'm sure I was reading recently about a couple of folk that didn't have such a good experience, in the end they went back to genuine chrome plated ones. In what way? I've just fitted a set and they all seemed fine.
I.B.ASH
There are 2 different sets of pads you can get, one set uses pads with 2 holes in the top corners which you need a pin set and springs, or the other pads need retaining type springs... a few links: These pads: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item27c99c3792 Need these pins: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item5ae5764b25 A set: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item5642e7383c OR These pads and fittings: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item5ade3e405a Mav Oh right.... Iv got these discs..... http://www.lrdirect.com/FRC7329-Brake-Disc-Fr-90-110-91-Rr-86-90/?sfi=FRC7329 these pads.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-DEFENDER-90-FRONT-BRAKE-PAD-SET-86-92-/370517273499?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item56448ceb9b and I think they go with these calipers... part numbers SEB500450 and SEB500440 http://www.lrdirect.com/SEB500440-supplied-by-bearmach-branded-bm.html I think that the pads and retaining pins you have linked maverik are the ones after mine (mine ure up to 86, the ones you have linked are 87 onward). Does anyone know what retaining pins/springs go with the parts I have listed , or if there are any other bits I will need? Like I said I have the pads and discs already, Im just about to buy the calipers I have listed, Im just wondering what other bitsare needed. I will probably get new caliper bolts as the blots that are there could do with replacing, can anyone provide a link for the correct bolts? Also what about new break line hoses from the calipers? Sorry for all the questions, I have looked, Im just not very good at finding the answers! Cheers!
western
use the RTC5001 pins with small R clip to secure the long pins & the coil spring in between the pads, the pads you linked to are the same as my 1989 110 front pads. pads anti squeal shims shopuld be in the box with the pads IIRC. put a very thin smear of brake grease [the red stuff] or copaslip on the pad to piston face.
