chris200100
I need to remove my steering wheel to replace the switches behind it and the thing is stuck well and proper, I've tried everything to remove it and it won't budge. Any suggestions Chris
mmgemini
Which switches ? I don't remember removing my steering wheel when I replaced the dip switch or moved the rear fog switch up to the column. Have you got the nut undone ? Then leave the nut on a few threads. Get hold of the wheel and struggle with it. Also you can belt it from underneath with a soft faced hammer.
Baz2236
I had to hit the back of my wheel to lossen it then pull it but as said make sure you keep a couple turns on the next else you end up with a sore nose where the steering wheel hit it. chris200100
I've got it off now thanks, it took some going too. I tried the hammer no joy. In the end it took heating it up with a blow torch and a hub puller and then it didn't pop off took some doing.
RILEY
Hi mate for the future wind the nut to the top one swift hammer blow on the nut and Robert is your mothers brother !
western
or be a bit less brutal & make up a puller with suitable fully threaded bolts & a block of steel.
KennyC
Slight hi-jack now this tread is almost finished...my 1989 bitza has this steering wheel fitted ( Landy still getting a new gearbox so can't provide a better photo )....how is my particular steering wheel removed ? Thanks
western
prise the badge from centre & you'll see the nut, undo this but don't take it fully off, use a puller or the methods mentioned above, the wheel will come off the splines to the nut, then remove the nut fully & lift wheel off the column. Simon Smith
I use a puller, there should already be two tapped holes in the wheel to bolt it to, tighten the big bolt and off it comes.
