yogibear47.lee
hi, i was wondering if the steering guards with the recovery point strong enough for the main front recovery point. the idea is to get one of them and just keep my standard bumper or will i need better recovery points. cheers lee
SPendrey
I have used one (for recovery) successfully before, although mine is a one-piece steering guard. I'd be more concerned about the three piece ones.
elbekko
I had one of those before I had the FF bumper, definitely beefy enough to use as a recovery point.
jad
I have this one for a defender http://www.paddockspares.com/pm724-heavy-duty-3-piece-steel-steering-guard-for-defender-rhd-and-lhd-features-integral-towing-eyes.html Always recovered off of it never had a problem. Except when someone put a hook too big in one of the recovery points and bent it. Straightened back with a sledge hammer though. Equivalent for a discovery http://www.paddockspares.com/pm610-steering-guard-galvanised-steel-with-hi-lift-jacking-points-and-towing-rings.html Might be worth a call to paddocks to check it is as heavy duty first though... andy2986
I've had a rebel guard fitted to my disco for years now.. Very solid bit of kit, I put a large shackle in one of the holes to take the larger comp style hook, plenty strong enough for the most enthusiastic of recoverys

BogMonster
I have owned a couple of the Rebel guards with eyes, and they are plenty strong enough for recovery use.
mmgemini
I have owned a couple of the Rebel guards with eyes, and they are plenty strong enough for recovery use. I'm pleased to read that as I too have a Rebel guard with recovery eyes. An aluminium one with steel sides. I keep looking at the recovery eyes and thinking " are they strong/ big enough"
