Warthog
Just wondering, with 4.11 Diffs. What would be the largest Tyre you would be able to go upto? Cheers
dirtydiesel
Just wondering, with 4.11 Diffs. What would be the largest Tyre you would be able to go upto? Cheers You could "do" 44's...... If you've got 500bhp to play with. Gearing is directly relative to power, the more power you have the less you have to worry about it. Warthog
Errmmm! 300TDI.....500bhp
dirtydiesel
Errmmm! 300TDI.....500bhp Well i'm sure you could for a very short amount of time 4:11 would leave you good for 33's, allthough it'd still be useable with 35's. Somewhere around 4.7 would be better.
Hybrid_From_Hell
makes a big difference depending on your transfer box ratio too Nige
D9OSV
4:11 was developed to give you same gear ratios as a standard 90 or 110 fitted with 235/85x16 0r 750/16 fitted with a standard transfer box WHEN using 35' tyres. So thats your answer....35' However you can go up a bit, as the it does leave the vehicle with a fairly low top end, 65 to 70mph Hope that clears things up a bit for you Jim
Guest diesel_jim
On my 90 (300Tdi) i used to have 4.1:1 diffs, 1.2:1 transfer box and 35" simex's. it drove almost like stock gearing, if anything, everyso slightly lower (but only a bit)
Mark90
If you want to play around with some numbers to see how the options compare give this a try.
JST
i'm running std diffs with 1.4T box and 35s. therefore although 4.1 were for 35" tyres you could prob go a bit bigger. depends what you want, large tyres and low engine revs at high speed (therefore need more bhp/Nm to get there) or large tyres for offroading but maintaining a low low speed for winching/decents.
