Good news in the 2013 budget . . .

Hidden in the budget there was some good news.

Vehicles built up to the end of 1973 are now all tax exempt.

I wonder if they plan to start rolling this forward year on year or if it will be a one off?

Really? I missed that, not that it changes anything for me.

Out of interest, does anyone actually know any break downs of vehicle ages using the UK roads? Like, 40 year old cars account for 0.002%, 35 year old makes up 0.15%, 30 yr old 1.025% - that style of thing? I'll better its pretty low percentages until you get down to about 10 year old now.

Edit:found it....

How rubbish!!!!

We have a rolling 25yr Oldtmer thing here, but there are exemptions for use of vehicles classed as old timers!!! No business use, no commuting, no school runs and such like, but there is the nice thing, like only having to have a safety test every 3 yrs! Only another 4yrs for my Discovery1 then!!

But what does it open the door to exactly? erm, nothing good just a few series 3s and a few other RRCs....
