I'm erring towards a secondhand engine and hoping turners will take back the parts I have bought

£500 on a secondhand engine might last me a few years. Just cant believe how much damage was done with only seconds of warning

It might of course be that the crack was there already from an unrelated reason, and that caused the overheat of course...

Bad news either way though :(

Scrap Disco may be your cheapest option, if you have the space :)

The last one I done I swapped over all the defender front and manifolds , not a complex job and keeps it all std and

easy . If you get stuck or need a hand pm me , but I'm sure it will be ok.

Doing the full swap just gives you a chance to fit new gaskets and copperslip all those nasty long bolts thru

the waterpump

cheers

Are disco 200tdi heads the same as defender 200tdi heads?

i would still like to stick with this engine if i could as i know its history

Yes, head & block 7 internals are common to both models, various external parts & timing case determine which model the engine fits. but a standard Disco 200tdi will fit a defender.
