challenge_king Posted June 26, 2014 Share Posted June 26, 2014 Hey guys, noticed today that I have quite a bit of smokey fumes coming from the breather on the top of my 200tdi engine, that sits on the left of the rocker cover. Surely this isn't normal? Thought it could maybe be a cracked gasket causing it to blow like this? It builds quite a bit of pressure when you put your hand over it. Thanks in advance! Maverik Posted June 27, 2014 Share Posted June 27, 2014 200tdi's generally breath quite heavily. If you're not getting any other symptoms I wouldn't worry too much. diggervan Posted June 27, 2014 Share Posted June 27, 2014 It's possible piston rings gummed up / valve guide seals/ head gasket more than likely piston rings if it's a high mileler try changing oil good quality run for 200 miles or so and change again it will take a bit of time but changing oil often will help Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
western Posted June 27, 2014 Share Posted June 27, 2014 shouldn't be any gases coming from the breather to outside, check the hoses are intact & the breather body is not cracked my 200tdi is 18 years old with stellar miles & doesn't let gases escape from the breather into the engine bay.
