Landrovernuts
What is the story with putting discovery 1 steel wheels on a 110, are they rated for a 110 is what I am really after? Toby
Bowie69
Nope, not normally, you can check on the rim/centre of wheel, usually stamped there.
Arjan
Been using them for years and never problems. You may need longer wheel studs as they are thick. AFAIK, both vehicles are 3500 kgs. MAM rated..
Diesel_90
I've used a set of disco steels with weld on Beadlocks on a trialer for the past 3 years and they have taken a lot of abuse. Obviously it's no where near the weight of a 110 but I'm impressed with how they have lasted
Landrovernuts
I have them on my 90 for years, but looking like I may be getting a 110. I do not like the wheels currently fitted (non LR) to the 110 and was hoping just to swap them over, but want it to be right as it will be transporting family! western
Disco steels are as strong as the XD/Wolf steels & just as heavy, only need to replace studs if your running a drum braked rear axle, otherwise the studs are common to 110, Discovery & military XD 90/110. found this info from a few years ago ------------- http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=23080
Landrovernuts
Thanks Ralph - it is one of the last Salisbury axle 110's from 2002, which surprised me as I thought they changed to the Rover axle before that, and so is disc brakes. Would have preferred a rover axle to simplify diff locks, but beggars cannot be choosers at the moment. Every 110 I have phoned about in the last two weeks was sold before I could see it - seems to a run on TD5 110's at the moment. I could not really think of a reason why not as has been said they are built as strong as a brick outhouse, but thought I would just check. The other reason for changing them, other than the looks of the current wheels, is the brand new tyres that are on my rims.
mickeyw
I recall seeing a 110 CSW with Disco steel rims on a main stealer's forecourt some years back. One would hope they wouldn't try to sell something that wasn't legal in that respect...
Bowie69
Perhaps I am misremembering then, perhaps it was the alloy wheels...?
mickeyw
SOME LR alloys are OK for a 110, but not all. The Boost wheel is a popular fitment to 90s & 110s, whereas the earlier 'Freestyle' wheel, commonly fitted to 90s is not weight rated high enough for a 110. The latest 'Saw tooth' style is fine for both models.
