landroversforever
What is the current thinking on tyre valve protection at the moment then? All the threads are from a while ago and new ideas might have come along since then! Either a U or V shaped bit of bent bar over it, or a piece of tube welded over it were the options I'd come across. Any fresh ideas out there? Cheers. landroversforever
A variation on the tube type: http://www.syncmakina.com/uploadfile/20130615214128925.jpg
zardos
Tube with plastic bung to stop dirt and stuff filling it up, plus it stops twigs still attacking it. From Artoffroad (https://artoffroad.wordpress.com/)
Lewis
I fitted shorter valves intended for go kart applications. They haven't got any protection but seem to cope fine with the use I give them If you have to have something Zardos' suggestion is the best I've seen
zardos
I have also seen just metal valves used or you can get flush mount valves(some options)http://www.mistertee.co.uk/10.html
landroversforever
I had the really short valves in there before I stripped the tyres off, so I will be using them again. I like the idea of the plastic bungs in the tubes if I go that route. I could always just leave it for now and just carry some spare valves? Cynic-al
Beadlocks do a darn good job of preventing anything get at the valve... has anyone ever fitted them to the inside of the rim and use the bent extensions like used on dueler truck wheels or is there just not enough space around the brakes to get it all in? zardos
My double beadlock wheels do nothing to prevent things getting to the valve, hence a tube and bung.(you probably meant Beadlock rings, which is only one method of bead locking)
Daan
If you run inner tubes, the tube around the valve is a complete PITA, because when you pump it up, you need to hold onto the valve with 2 fingers to stop the valve disappearing in the hole. Loops for me for this reason. Daan
Cynic-al
Yes apologies I meant the weld on bead lock ring which makes inflating the tyre a challenge
