bodumatau
Hello fellow landrovites. I have been considering replacing my blower switch with a chrome toggle switch on or under the dash, I never use it at anything but full power and the land rover switch is just not a joyful experience. Is there any reason for me nor to do this? I suppose I will loose the half speed but since I never use it I don't care, anything else? western
The full setting is a direct 12 volt feed, there's no relay in the fan circuit, find out what the amp (current) draw of the motor is then decide on what switch & relay to fit
vulcan bomber
Doesn't it also operate one of the cables for the flaps in and around the fan?
western
Yes the slide does operate one of the air flaps inside heater case, so the original slide switch will have to stay in place
TSD
I have a modified heater box (with no flap inside) and one of Miketomcats custom dashboards. I used one of these to replace the LR fan switch, with no relay. No issues at all. http://www.durite.co.uk/s/c/switches-and-indicators/rotary-and-splash-proof-switches/splashproof-three-position-rotary-switch-off-on-on-15a-at-12v
bodumatau
ok sounds good, yes I would leave the original switch in place but it would then rest on the fully on position to keep the flaps open, just the blower then operated by the switch and relay. western
Or ensure the flap os in correct place then bolt ? it into the fixed position then the original slider could be removed
=jon=
I fully opened the flap in the heater box then disconnected the bowden cable at the switch end - now the standard fan switch slides nicely with very little resistance and it's much nicer to use
Diesel_90
My heater is on a ON/OFF switch and it's good but sometimes all or nothing is a bit of a pain.
bodumatau
@old hand, that is a very good diarrhoea, will try that before swopping to switch.
