Ex Member
I assumed the £1500 was before VAT.
Chicken Drumstick
Got a reply back just before Easter from Rocky Mountain. £1420 inc VAT. I suspect buying and importing would not likely be any cheaper. Or only marginally. That said, it's a HUGE chunk of money in relative terms... I only paid £600 for the entire vehicle in 2012. Snagger
But it is an easily transferable part - you can fit it to another vehicle if you replace yours, or you can sell it on separately for a large sum. So, yes it's expensive, but it is a life-long investment with good fuel (and ear) saving and a high residual value.
Daan
I have a dutch friend who can sell you a rebuilt overdrive for 875 Euro outright. He usually comes to the newbury sortout, I can put you in contact with him. daan
HoggyN
According to their website, Rocky Mountain UK are out of stock for overdrives for both Defender and Series with no prices being shown for either at the moment.
Maverik
A slight warning on 2nd hand overdrives... I bought my unit on Gumtree for £800, it is one of the earlier units with less of the later refinements for lubrication etc. I had to put in a fair bit of time and some cash to get the thing running, outright cost I probably saved a 100 or so pounds, but if I did it again, I'd get a new unit off the bat 100%. Just a lot less hassle and you've got complete confidence in the unit.
