  1. jackbw28 You are a STAR you just saved me £30 on parts from Land Rover ........£8 for the M10*1 oil pressure adapter from JJC Race & Rally and even with my discount Land Rover wanted nearly £40 for there adapter and banjo set up to add a sender unit (ETC4034 and ETC4033) and as for the sender unit its self wait for it (PRC4043) ...£92.00 plus VAT LOL ochhhhh .........I'm not sure if I will go for a oil temp as well or a clock instead that Glow Shift do as will prob add the Madman EMS2 Gauge as well due to its alarm system which moniters battery voltage with high and low alarm Engine running hours with service timer Inclinometer and artificial horizon Oil pressure loss alarm Coolant level alarm Coolant temperature with high and low alarms Ambient temperature Oil temperature with high and low alarms Oil/Boost/Fuel/Aux Pressure with high and low alarms Exhaust gas temperature with high alarm
  2. I think Insurance pay outs on cars are dun on the "book price" mine being 23 years old the book price is prob only a few thousand ........so have to have an agreed value or I wouldn't get anything . With AF you don't have to have a valuation but do have to provide seven colour photos Front back left side right side engine bay interior and speedo Plus a list of all work and modifications carried out. I all ways provide lots of extra photos a details list of yearly work carried out and new parts, upgrades and there cost. And of course am able to prove every thing by a photo record and I keep EVERY recite. You must all so be 100% honest and list EVERY modification - upgrade ...A modification is classed as anything you do that is non factory standard.....I'm fanatical about insurance and it could be said I take this to the extreme and even list things like changing my light fixing screws to stainless ones. My partner works in insurance and the bottom line is if you have told them they don't have an excuse not to pay you with the " oh you never told us about that so we cant pay you" ...........Better safe than sorry To add to that any mid term modifications I do I inform them ( no charge if it don't affect performance) and get confermation in writing from them that they have been told

  8. HELP NEEDED I THINK Hi every one back from our two weeks in wet wet Wales then very hot and sunney Wales. The trip tolk 8 hours fully loaded up with dogs kids and the kitchen sink. We arrived about 2PM and was greted by a 1 in 5 up to the farm where we were staying half way up the bloody mountain in 1st gear back loaded up to hell roof rack over flowing and a sanky trailer with extra high sides on it all over flowing as well GUESS WHAT. Yes you got it a single track only as wide as the lady and some one came down hill the other way in a car OH F*** it. We both came to a stop and there was a five min face off nope she wasnt backing up (even tho she had a passing place few yards behind her). Me in my wisdom decided to try and back up down a 1 in 5 fully loaded up with a sanky on HAY all was going well then BANG bugger had been watching the trailer and not noticed a big bit of slate poking out the wall £120 fairly new BF tyere down the drain. Even better no jack and my new Hi LIFT extream hadnt arrived before we left BUGGER again. Lucky for me there was a EX Landy man behind me who just nipped over to the oppersite mountain and returned with jack and braker bar WHAT A GENT. He even refused the £30 I offerd him tottal STAR. So anyway up the mountain we go stepper and tighter bends with sheer drop offs over the side (GULP) Anyway tackled a few then stopped on a bit of a flat to calm my nerves (remember we are from Norfolk flat ish) and oh brilliant a big pool of fluid under my Landy finger in it yep dam power steering fluid a brand new pump only fitted 10 days with all new fluid DAM DAM DAM. OK thats the bad bit got back and Paddocks have offer to replace the pump under garantee this is where the HELP bit comes in can anyone think what would have caused it to blow ??? As dont want to fit the new one for it to do it again any ideas help ????? greatfully recived. Best part was 300 acres of Farm right up in the mountains we were stoping on no one else stopping there just us and free to play over all off it in the Landy the Farm even had a jet wash to clean up with after the fun hows that for luck. A few pics below
  9. I'm after a Tom Tom as thay get the top review on WHICH report. Argos have the NEW Tom TOM 530 with the lastes Teq. At the moment for £220 with traffic for £250 best price Ive found for it by far. The 530 is UK & Ireland The 730 europe The 930 Europe, USA and canada The Tom Tom 520 which was the top for the UK untill recent launch of the 530 has dropped loads recent ly from around £200 down to £130 ish dosnt have the latest lane teqnology all depends on what you want out of it. I all ways do a fair bit of rechearch before investing in any thing new for my landy or indeed tool kit or house as I'm a gadget man I allways want the top of the range ( if it turns out to be the Best) regardless of wheather I need it or not LOL.
  10. Hi would poss be intrested will know closer the time. Tris do you have a number for the camp site at all please Im happy to camp in November as lived outside (litraly) for 15 years. Have all the gear & well set up for out door living a BIG army canvas tent, huge cast hanging pans, trivets for the fire, Kettle irons etc but need to know if the camp site allows REAL fires as some do & some dont. As I do all my cooking on a camp fire not to bad at it ither can cook anything on a fire that some one can on a cooker every thing from a full roast dinner to a dam good cake. All so need to know wheather dogs are allowed as same problem some do & some dont. Have even come across some camp sites that dont allow kids or works cars/vans So if you got a landy which is also your work tool with your buissness writen up on the side of it thay wont allow it. So found its allways best to phone and cheeck exactly what is and whats not allowed. So if you got a number Tris that would be great so can cheeck on fires and dog. If not its pub grub Thanks paul.
  11. Hi there Mo Ive a 1990 defender with Tornado wheels on it (more less the same as a Free style) Thay had to be specialy adapted to fit on the landy and the same as yours my dust cap pokes thro the hole. Exactly the same as you what pigs to remove when there on there realy on. Its ussaly a case of a big bit of wood on the back and a dam big hammer and a couple of big wacks but at times realy do take some geting off ussaly a case of a lot of swearing and mega frustration. Hope that helps all I can sugest Paul
  12. Hi Graham thats the exact reason I asked yes diffrent struts on a TD5 one to your old one. I Put a new TD5 Bonnet on my 1990 defender 110 all you have to do is lower thw radiator water tank by about 1/4 inch and it will close lovley. The strut will hit its cap untill you do and stops it closeing but just 1/4 inch and it will close its a realy easy job if you look. Its easy to just lower it as the bracket is a sisscor type so loosen the bolts and push down on it the re tighten them and then CLICK the bonnet shuts. To cheeck if its lower enough just put some greese on the cap and gently lower the bonnet untill you can lower it with out geting greese on the inside of the bonnt. Hope tha saves you some work Paul
  13. Great one just out curiosity why didnt the bonnet fit ?
  14. sorry didnt see that bit long old day just read digital camara wanted
  15. Why fit a second one ?? I sufferd from low alternator power as well and considerd doing the same what a pain I just had a much more powerful alternator built in the end far eisier.

  20. Hi there I have a Defender not a Disco but moved the seat belt D rings the actual belts clip on to. I moved them forward by 4 inchches & its never failed a MOT becouse of doing it yet Paul
  21. Guppy personaly I would re place the pump Paddocks have PAS pumps on offer at the moment have just put a new one on mine after uying two second hand ones which didnt last long decided to go for a new one and WOW WOW WOW just buy a new one what a diffrance. Mines a Defender mines a NTC8287 and think it was £120 which is is great considering the quotes I had went from that up to over £300. Its not a hard job at all (especialy when had to do it several times with second hand pumps) Im not the best at macanics and have limited tools but have had no problem hope that helps paul
  22. Hi Ian You can get a dual purpose arial one which will do a CB & a sterio off the same arial if you have a CB. As for speakers you could consider Marrine speakers thay are water proof so you can mount them anywhere so might increase your mounting options. Difficult as its hard enough to find places to mount decent size speakers in a hard top good luck.
  23. Poss the weather why we stayed at home no fun camping if you got kids in all the wet. If the stand holders wernt expecting a big crowd due to the waether poss stayed away.
  24. would not the cost of doing all the nessacery changes (choping new bits to make it work etc) cost more than the diffrance between a 90 & a 110 galv one ? Why not just wait a little longer save a bit more and save your self a big head ach.
