  1. Who are you guys buying your replacement window channel and window seals from? I need to do them on my truck cab.

I’ve read good reports about the Rocky Mountain aluminium channel kits and also the plastic channel that the Series 3 club sell but it would be good to hear from anyone who’s done the same job.

Do people still fix the channels in with screws or glue them in?

I need the corner glass seals for the truck cab and also a set of decent door seals. I think I read somewhere of people glueing a single piece seal around the door aperture rather than use the individual riveted style so any feedback on that would be appreciated.

Be nice to know who or what to avoid too 👍

I would guess the connections will need swapping over to bullet connectors to suit your vehicle or add the matching econoseal connectors to the vehicles wiring.

the  RDX lights kit  has a option to add connectors

I think I’d prefer to swap to the econoseal plugs as I’ll upgrade the headlight loom to relays at the same time.

  3. North West Propshafts made mine. They advised against fitting a DC shaft and instead suggested a wide angle yoke style.

The angle between the gearbox and the diff is important and should ideally be below 15 degrees but the closer to single digits the better.

I fitted spacers under my axle pads to achieve the right angles but I’m still to use it on the road so can’t say yet if it’s ok or not.

Could be head gasket, could also be rings, you could determine that with a compression test, are your breathers breathing ? Regards Stephen

I’ve no idea tbh, it just started spewing oil out of the filler neck so I assume it’s getting pressure from somewhere. I sense a strip down is in order.

    What is it you have?

If you type that item number into EBay it should come up with a bus bar which I’ve used for power distribution. You’d still need fuses and relays but I used a separate box for that. They’re not integrated as with the Bussmann type.

And a top tip to save aggro is the unf half nuts which secure the leaf spring bushes must be removed/wound off first. The unf bolts are threaded into the chassis drop brackets and the drop pivot bracket. Fun once you know....

Cheers. It looks like I may have found one locally and might get it this weekend.

  7. I’m still thinking of getting a narrow track but I’m not sure about the availability of consumable spares for the axle such as bearings, seals etc.

Are these still available or are people struggling to find them?

Here’s a good picture from the back :

I saw a photo on a news website and it looked like the rear was raked much higher than the front almost like a standard pickup vehicle.

This photo makes the vehicle look a lot more level so I’m wondering if it had air suspension fitted.

  9. I’ve just fitted a transmission oil temperature gauge to mine as I’m running a ZF too. I removed the warning light switch as I didn’t have the lamp anyway and fitted the sender in its place. Spoke to Ashcrofts first and they said it would work fine as it’s constantly being splashed with oil even though it’s not submerged so will work as well as the original switch did.

  10. I’m thinking of having a go at repairing my tub using Ali welding rods but when filling in small holes I’ll need something on the back to stop the molten Ali from dropping through until it cools.

I know from discussing mig welding that you can use a piece of copper to do the same job but will copper also work with Ali and not stick to it or do I need to look for some other metal?

There you go fixed it for you .

Products look to have potential but the site has no clicky links to anything .

SKU pt.no. refs are similar to Padocks.....

That’s what I thought. They advertise a brand new rear tub kit on eBay that you assemble yourself and also the repair panels to refurbish your own.

No details on the website though so I’ve sent them an email.
