  1. Pictures everyone!!!! I WANT THEM!!! I wonder why they have advertised them in the mag before any information anywhere else on the face of the earth. Nothing is on their website What do u think?
  2. Ok im getting confused now, boosts have a 33mm offset, but modulars come in 7mm and 0mm offset but 7mm offset sticks out further than standard wheels? What i would like is an 8x16 rim, with an offset similar to boosts/freestyles in combination with wheelspacers. So whatever boosts offset is, that plus 30mm ish. Thanks Ash
  3. Its not RDX, if you check out KBX's ad in the back of lro, they are NAS style rear lamps, all are circular, not led and they have three circular lamps in a horizontal row where the fog and reverse lamps would fit, they have lamp guards fitted, they look the nuts! When i am home tomorrow i will upload the pic from the mag. They look the nuts! if they arnt rediculously priced like the KBX grilles then i reckon a lot of people will be after them! Thanks for your advice on Bolt on Bits, they dont look like a company i would like to deal with, Ash
  4. In the back of the current issue of LRO i noticed KBX advertising new NAS style rear lamps, so i have been looking on their website for a fortnight now and they dont seem to be anywhere, even on any of their suppliers websites. anyone know of any more info about them? Thanks Ash
  5. Alright fellas. Im looking at replacing my general 235/85s on LR boost alloys for a Set of 265/75 mud terrains on steel modulars. No website i have been on indicates what offset the modulars have. Are they more offset than boosts? i would like +30mm offset on each wheel. Probably gonna buy a set of 4 from silverline. Thanks Ash
  6. faulty glow plugs will not stop the starter motor from turning over, a battery in poor health or a dud starter motor will
  7. Doesnt sound right to me, do you have booted shock absorbers or are they protected by a metal tube, if they are booted fit them boot down, tubed - tube up. They need to drain mud and water away so fit them best for that purpose
  8. i reckon 10mins with a hacksaw and some bolsa wood and you will have created a better dash than LR fitted...
  9. checked your bonnet rubbers are fitted at the hinges? also ive had the seat box lid catches undo and rattle but sound like the noise is coming from the dash
  10. I dont know if td5s have this but on merc diesels the alternator has a one way bearing fitted to the pulley. When this seizes it causes the belt to flap about. But, like i said, i am unsure if this is a feature on td5's
  11. Thanks for the replies chaps. They do like similar to my 235/85 16 generals but those look to be wider, like not quite a 265, maybe a 255 or a 245 but with a similar height to the 235's. Anyone know if safety devices still sell that rack? Or any reason why no one in england fits NAS forward facing rear bench seats, is there some law that applies to them? If Exmoor would do a kit id definately be having them!
  12. evenin' chaps! Anyone got any idea what size tyres these are? They look the nuts! east coast rover and also, are these standard "wolf" wheels? They look to be wider than 6.5". are 130 rims the same as wolf rims? East coast rover Those guys at ECR do build some awesome looking trucks! i wish we could get hold of those nas soft tops and roll cage bolted roof racks! Pure landy porn! Cheers! Ash
  13. well when mine last did this it made a horrific noise and that was at 20-30mph, clutch down and in gear still. if u do ever put it into hi from low or vice versa, keep pressing the lever hard for a couple of seconds after pulling away and it should never pop out. Ive had both my landies do it. both from recently doing a hi to lo/ lo to hi selection change. There are no syncro's in the t-box. I heard through the grapevine somewheres that g-wagons do though? would be lovely to have if towing something heavy! Then u could use low range to get up to 30 and then swap ratios on the fly!
  14. aragorn is correct. once the bed in process is complete it is a lot harder to "warp" discs. I have used britpart discs and ferodo pads before with no problems but i bed them in by getting them hot but avoiding holding the brakes on when they are hot at stationary. The pad will partially "stick" to the disc. Equally though, you could be having serious bad luck and could have got two inferior britpart sets of discs. Maybe try genuine discs this time. There should be no need to replace the pads aswell, however land rover do spec there pad friction material to their disc, as most manufacturers will recommend, fit genuine with genuine, but i see no reason as to not keep using your britpart pads on the genuine discs. Another thing that has popped into my head actually, i have seen a set of brand new discs warp because the stickers were not removed from the surface of the inner hub facing surface of the disc, so therefore heat would not be evenly distributed to the hub and the paper sticker had actually blackened from being burnt. Do britpart discs come with stickers on? off hand i cant remember, but these MUST be removed Hope this helps
  15. One thing i noticed about the "man for land rovers" ( the thatched garage) is that all their vehicles seem to be a bit on the high side for pricing. He buys his vehicles from the same places u could well be looking at, i.e autotrader and auctions. He gets them cheap because he goes straight to the seller early with cash in his hand. Dont get me wrong though, he does pick some nice vehicles but u could save a good deal of money by searching for them yourself. I managed to get a 52 plate 90 station wagon in epsom green, in immaculate condition, fsh and waxoyled from new with 56k for £10k on the dot, i know if i bought it through the thatched garage or similar i would be paying at least £13k for the same thing. He is worth paying a visit though, and get haggling! Otherwise i highly recommend Nene Overland, they always find the best vehicles, they may be pricey but they will be the best kept landys that reasonable money can buy, and no i dont work for them! Hope you find a nice truck! Be patient and dont take second best!
  16. i agree with aragorn. We have the same problem at Merc with our AMG vehicles. Customers go stomping down the road with new brakes get them so hot that after about 2 or 3 thousand miles the customer comes back with horrible brake judder and steering vibrations, fortunately merc pay for us to replace them under warranty. We bed in brakes like reb78 mentioned. What i have noticed at the smaller garages is that they tend not to road test vehicles frequently or for long enough periods. I choose to take a longer test route after brake pad and disc replacement. I know land rover do coat their discs with grease to prevent them from rusting during storage and transport, merc just use a spray primer. I suggest trying aragorns bedding in technique before returning to your garage. Parts like brake discs, even at non genuine factories, will go under stringent quality control. You say that they failed very quickly, how quick is quick?
  17. Definately check the steering damper if its not straight! I have bent a steering damper before and i couldnt turn left at all!
  18. one of my mates has this same problem but on the rear callipers, he has the coil spring type retainers, hes replaced pads, discs, calliper and the retaining pins and springs and its still there, so far only duct tape has silenced the issue
  19. have a search on the forums before you try any diy job, 300tdis have aluminium pistons that dont like getting too hot, so trying to tune the nuts off your tdi will bring the exhaust gas temperatures up very quickly which could lead so some fairly disastrous engine damage. I recommend fitting a larger intercooler to keep the temperatures down and if your really worried you can fit a dash mounted exhaust temp guage to keep an eye on it. i gave my old disco a mild tune to by turning the rubber diaphragm/conical pin around by a 1/3 of a turn. A friend of mine went mad and ended up fiddling with everything only to find that his truck was doing 20mpg when originally it would be doing nearer 30. remember every setting you have adjusted so you can return it back if it all goes tits!
  20. How long should a 52 plate defense fuel pump run for with just the ignition on? Thanks ash
  21. Just thought you might want to know. The ipod kit i fit into mercedes will not charge iphone, ipod touch and the 120gb classic ipod as they require a 5v charge, so dont rig up a charger to the battery. you will need a genuine charger for your ipod
  22. yeah i too enjoyed the ashcroft stand, a very professional display of drivetrain, i particularly liked the difflock setups. The stand got quite a lot of interest from a couple of mates who dont have land rovers or any clue about the mechanicals of cars. Overall i thought billing was excellent, went with a party of ten and all thoroughly enjoyed themselves even though the weather was carp on friday and sunday. Definately going to go again although i think the showers could definately do with some improvement. other than that everything else was top notch, my first landy show and i was overwhelmed as to how good it was. Oh and i got my disco rather filthy!
