  1. Why is there so much objection to the adapter in the link? It doesnt look dangerous as long as it sits far enough down the jack shaft. The LR disco jacks are good for the axle, but when you need a normal bottle jack you havent got one. This would allow both functions?
  2. Haha. I can get it from Neils to Launceston but not for about four weeks now.
  3. I think the recommended oil changes (50,000km) are a big reason for the failures. 750ml of ATF in there for that time..... Mine is on 100,000 miles with me now and it was secondhand when I bought it, so they can go on ok. Agreed though the Roverdrive does seem like a more robust unit.
  4. I contacted the guy ages ago and he never has stock. I have no doubt that it will help to add a larger capacity for oil. Plus a sump plug will speed up oil changes and make them easy to do regularly. David (Vulcan Bomber) on here is looking at making something similar. Discussion here:
  5. The filter is under one of the circular dashpot sections at the bottom of the pump (sump end). I think it is the larger of the three from memory. The centre one allows access to the oil pump piston and the other one is a pressure relief valve I think. You will need to make up a tool to insert into the holes in the circular section then undo them (normal thread) and the filter and a small gasket is all that is in there. When we took the one off of Neils, we used a couple of allen keys or screwdrivers wedged in the holes and some pliers - it was tight though so a tool of some sort would be more elegant! ETA - the filter you need is third down on the left column on your link. I think D44 were asking £55 for this when i last looked, so the £10 from ORS makes them seem a bargain!
  6. I think that ring sits inside the sprag gear Ralph. (I always thought the planet gears were the three that rotate around one another - they look fine in your pics) I think D44 have some broken GKN units that they will sell spares from so it is worth contacting them for this part. Martin Kingdon (I think the name is correct) is the person to talk to. And if you do get it working, change that oil more frequently!!!! That's way to black and gungy! Mine gets fresh oil every 6000 miles. The HP filter (and i reckon you would be wise to change it looking at how black that oil is) is cheapest from overdrive repair services - but you may just want to get it with the gaskets from D44. I have a list of gaskets somewhere, but I wont be able to copy it until Saturday.
  7. Maybe. I did wonder that but i can move them out and in smoothly. Its always at the same point so that would add up perhaps?
  8. Tried copperslip. It doesnt solve it. Hence turning to these ebc ‘anti’ squeal pads. Judging by the difference theyve made we could remame them squeal pads.
  9. Whenever my front pads onthe 110 get around 1/3 to 1/2 worn, the squeak almost continuously. Its driving me mad. I fitted some ebc anti squeal pads yesterday and adjusted the wheel bearings. Theyre worse if that’s possible. Any solutions to this? The pads are genuine LR but had it with Delphi and Mintex. The calipers are in good condition, with stainless pistons that move freely.
  10. Cant help but think they’ll regret having a baby after all that work with a 2 bed camper...!
  11. Sounds like mine of the same age. Fit a vdo temp sender and guage and you will worry less as you can see the tenp variations in degrees and they are all ok. (And i tow stuff close to the trailer/ vehicle limit with mine so heavier than yours).
  12. Overdrive Repairs are much better on cost than D44 but they dont stock all the parts we need for our variant of the overdrive at times so i use both companies. I bet you’ll find the clutch material looks ok. Its naturally very thin. Not down permanently yet. It’ll be another few years of travelling back and forth to London each week with the current plan! Just about to set off now!
  13. Post up any questions Ralph. It’d be worth replacing the four springs whilst you’re in there. IIRC, yours was slipping? These seemed to be the issue on Neils.
  14. Interestingly, I was contemplating the trailing arms and radius arms the other day. With my new lift, its the most logical place to put the blocks for the wheels free system. So from reading this, i presume its ok to support the weight of the vehicle at these points?
  15. Yes. I guess its the same thing. Originals would have lasted 20 years, this will be the second or third set in about 8 years. Just bite the bullet and get LR parts maybe? Bearmach and britpart both seem to offer oem versions.
  16. How quickly do you go through steering column UJs? The ones on the 110 are probably 3 years old, Bearmach items (i think), possibly allmakes and need replacing again. Land Rover want about £60 per UJ. What brands are you using and happy with?
  17. If you just unplug it, the ecu uses default values.
  18. Well, it got me from London to Conwall. Seemed to run fine.
  19. So, changing the injector seals on the D2. Managed to bend a copper washer and deform it. Of course, everywhere is shut now or doesnt stock them and i wanted to get to cornwall this afternoon. I dont suppose anyone on here is near Potters Bar in Hertfordshire and has a spare in a set somewhere that i can replace??!
  20. How did it fail Ralph? Split? Im thinking of just putting genuine rubber back on it.
  21. Good plan. I will give that a go (have a workshop hoover so should avoid the girlfriend anger - on that issue anyway....)
  22. The overall question isnt engine specific so I put it here. Whats the lifespan on silicone intercooler hoses and when they fail (assuming they will), how do they do this? Reason for asking: Smoky TD5 diesel with 6-7 year old silicone hoses and I am wondering if replacing them will make any difference. They look ok on inspection but we all know that even rubber hoses dont look like they have failed sometimes when they have.
  23. Thats not a bad outcome really Scott. My cover is currently good, but its good to know we can get new ones made at a 'relatively' reasonable price.
  24. I got front doors from land rover and mid row from SP as they were all cheapest that way. I managed to get a rear door from a member on here. I thought SP sold frames too?
