  1. Has anyone managed to contact them? I could only get a disconnected phone number from the website, and emails were not answered. Richard
  2. Thinking of converting a 90 to air suspension. To be able to raise/lower side to side and back to front. I know it has been done by others, but where do you get the bits from? I have not heard of 'Ogden Air' recently who used to do a kit but seem to have vanished, and I wanted heavy duty air spings that can take more abuse than a P38 air bag. Like something from a kneeling bus etc.. Any suggestions? Cheers Richard
  3. If its OK, I'll bring a non forum user as the other car in my team. Cheers Richard
  4. Put me down for a team. 2 x 90's. One driven by me, the other by my wife. Its only about 30 miles from us and we will be bringing some novice (like us) winch assistants. Sounds like fun. Richard
  5. Oooooh. Disc conversion. B) (PM sent) Richard
  6. Yes I got in contact with them in the end. They are too busy at the moment to work out how to do a coil conversion on portals so I collected them. Richard
  7. I used P+P/Evans as they made one the way I wanted. I took my 90 from London to Yorkshire and back, but the end result was worth it. Safety devices just do set ones unless you have won the lottery. Not getting technical as I can't. Richard
  8. Not safaris but challenge style events, Scorpion did the novice challenge this year and it was good fun. As long as you have not entered a challenge event previously you were elligible to enter. I think it is going to run next year and it is based on fun and the social side just as much (or more) than the competitive spirit. Richard (Portal being fitted, but not a straight forward job)
  9. Maxidrive do the bolt-on drop boxes for rover axles, but the price? Also portals gearing reduces stress on the axles so they don't have to be so strong anyway. Richard
  10. RPR Could you tell me what the offset of your Volvo C303 rims are please? I have been looking on the net and can't seem to get a definitive answer. Cheers Richard
  11. I am in the process of putting Volvo C303 portals on this: The work is happening as I type this. Note winch is not one I am keeping and tow hitch is going (obviously) I have a 90 for trials but am not allowed portals on it. So I am building another. I hope to have it completed to a good challenge spec for the end of the year. Richard
  12. I just had to move the brake/sidelight holes in a bit. The indicators were fine. Richard
  13. Nice pics. Can't wait for the Volvo portals to be converted to coils for my 90 now. About 3 to 4 weeks to go hopefully They won't be going on this though, as I trial it and portals are not allowed. So I am building this one up with some help. Richard
  14. I'm convinced. And I didn't even ask the question. Richard PS. like the look of all that stuff on the X-eng website.
  15. Are we talking about station wagons with no bulkhead here, because I think the steering wheel is OK if you have room to move the seat back. Unless you lot have got legs like tree trunks. I am getting a set of brackets made up to move the seat over 10mm to cure the problem of shoulder rub on the B post. Leaving the steering wheel as it is though. Cheers Richard
  16. Thanks for the suggestions regarding the steering wheel, but that is fine. Its great to drive and the wheel does not touch my legs. The problem is the distance the seat is from the door. They did move them over from the TDis on but not enough. The only cars I own are defenders so I am used to the 'elbows down' driving position which is natural. So I never bang my elbow. The B post intrudes in to the interior more than the upper door around the glass, so if you are not quite as tall you are not as far back. Hence your shoulder will not rub on it and you are OK. I am 6'3". On my truck cab 90 because I could not move the seat back as far I had to bend up the side/headlight switch so it did not dig in to my knee. Richard
  17. I have recently bought a new defender 110. The seats are so close to the doors that when I go over a bump my shoulder rubs on the B post. I do not get this problem in the 90 as I have changed the seats and in doing so I moved them in a bit, using some large checker plate sqares. I do not want to do this in the new car as then you can not access the battery box. So, does anyone make up extensions for the two seat runners that move them over 10mm or so to give you a bit more room to the door while looking fairly standard. There is plenty of space between the seat and the cubby box in the 9 seater. If not I'll have to get measuring, and weld some brackets on to the seat runners. Cheers Richard
  18. After trying Pacet and Kenlowes I've gone back to a viscous fan. I was forever having problems after deep mud etc.. and got brassed of with having to constantly mess about with them. Richard
  19. Cheers. See what I mean though, If I'd washed it it would have blended in with all the other nice clean ones. Richard
  20. Hi John Have you been to Bures. Its quite a good site where you can have a play with the 110 to see how involved you want to get. It is near Colchester. Details are in the events section I believe, posted by petergg who runs the site. Cheers Richard
  21. You didn't find one of mine then? Can't really moan as I forgot my camera. Richard
  22. Yes, the winners got a gold piston type trophy.
  23. My 32" ETs did not wear much when running to and from events for 6 months at 35 PSI. One weekend at 25 PSI running between sites (20 miles or so) caused more wear than the last 1,000 miles. So now I always pump them up nicely for the road. ( makes them quieter too. ) Richard
  24. I got the prize for 'best offroader'. Must be because I had not washed it, and its got plenty of dents. Richard
