  1. Bluetooth no, does not have the bandwidth for video. Wifi is your best bet. Plenty of Wifi security cameras out there, less so small ones. I have a couple of bullet wired cameras, one for reversing and one underneath as a 'rock cam' for offroad. One useful feature is that the reverse camera is reversed video on the X axis, makes it easy as it looks like a rear view mirror we are used to. A wired camera may tolerate being run through spare pins on the trailer socket, you lose the screen only in the plug/skt area. Or just put another small connector alongside the towing socket. Why go for a troublesome solution, when simple ones are available....
  2. Is it not something like the ALDA on merc engines? Enriching depending on load (although theres no pressure input in this case...)
  3. Are we talking Diesel or Petrol? If the former i've also struggled, even with stuff marked as 'diesel fuel hose', splits after 1-2 years. Ive just redone the ones on the pump with PVC, the ultimate is Rilsan, or Rilsan lined.
  4. Slight drift, but i've always fancied a lightweight, are they still findable?
  5. In my case that will be under the camper body which will not be occupied when driving, so fumes not an issue. But i wondered if that contravened any MOT or C&U rules?
  6. I was wondering if the exit can be underneath between the chassis rails, pointing down, between the 2/3 axles...
  7. Yeah i might do it in stainless & silicone. I found several meters of 33mm OD thrown out at work but its a little smaller that the motor 40mm, may constrict flow...
  8. Ive found it ok actually for custom stuff, no evidence it does not flow, it bends better instead of kinking for custom things, and i've never had a failure. Prob depends on the quality, its not chinese....
  9. Yeah i was just testing length. Have to remove it to drop body on and then it will be supported to the body. Thanks. I thought someone was going to point out the lifting sling around the GB. Yes i will have to unbolt that again to get the sling off
  10. Updates: Radiator and IC mounted. Underslung side lockers made. RHS has 2x batteries, air compressor & hydraulic pump on slide out drawers. LHS has aux fuel tank, small locker for ropes, and waste water tank. Compressed air tank mounted.
  11. Thats encouraging, i can route it non-pavement side, but ideally i wanted to bring it out between the 2 rear axles. Then i was also wondering if it must behind the passenger compartment to avoid fumes being drawn in...
  12. Does anyone know the C&U regs or MOT for where and exhaust must be routed? I'm looking for a different route and making up a custom exhaust. e.g where it comes out on the body? how long the tubes can be after the final silencer....
  13. Just the bed/floor, the rest will be composite sheet (alu/foam/alu) bonded into alu profiles
  14. Floor material will be either camper floor composite, or my own wood-foam-wood. It will be sitting on mount points on the existing chassis, hard mount at rear points, then about 4 or 6 more spring pull-downs (a-la 3-point flex mounts). It just has to support the weight of the camper body and contents, the heaviest thing being 2x 60L water tanks, walls will be foam composite, at a guess max load 500kg I'm at a loss how to estimate dynamic forces, but 500kg at 1-2 g already becomes 1.5 tons....
  15. I'm just designing the bed/floor of my camper box. I've agonised weather to do it in Alu beams or Steel, and come to steel as i feel it will handle the dynamic loads better (plus easier to weld and less prone to fracture) The next question is what grade. Obviously it does not want to be over-engineered, but also should not be too weak either. I found some calculators online and looked at flex for certain loads on single beams. I came up with using 30x50x3mm wall tube, that had a deflection of 0.7mm for 150kg on the end of a 1m overhang. But it would be nice to look at the whole structure. Its basically a ladder frame 3m long by 2m wide, supported along point on the chassis rails, the overhang to the outside no being more that about 600mm. Transverse beams every 450mm. I'll post a sketch up when i have a chance to draw it. Can anyone help in a scientific or experience way?
  16. Yeah i have the same concerns, it might be worth a punt, i'll do some more research also. There are more professional things the same made by Bosch and Valeo, but you can add a 0 onto the price. Theres a few reviews on amazon for that same box all positive, but one is never sure if thats posted by the seller....
  17. There are some not-so-expensive 3D multicam systems i was looking at. You calibrate the cameras and the box stiches together a full 3D view, even from above. e.g https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Real-HD-3D-car-360-surround_60706260945.html?spm=a2700.details.deiletai6.3.a5e118628BCtEt
  18. Thanks will make a note of that. Useful that they have an encoder. I think i'd need to use it as limit switches only sync at the end of travel, and the roof wont tolerate too much de-sync, it would jam.
  19. Are you planning the bed will see a lot of pitching and rolling? Lead screw mech looks interesting, i need to find a system to do lifting roof, and struggle to find commercial actuators with enough travel at sensible prices.
  20. Hydraulic spare wheel lift which will double as steps when down.
  21. The nice thing about Covid is the extra time i get to spend in the garage... Engine fully mounted, new shocks, cab test fitting, brake line renewal started
  22. I dont think anyone has mentioned it - Tidy the workshop!
