  1. Thanks Gent's. Good link that Ralph, haven't come across that company before. Mick.
  2. Hi all, Can anybody tell me the part number for the speedo sensor connector on a 2000 Defender? Thanks, Mick.
  3. Thanks Ralph, Doesn't help as it only about single / twin battery setups.
  4. ^^^^^ As above, I had ES9000's fitted to my 110, within 12 months the shafts were very rusty & pitted. Changed them for Old Man Emu's & haven't looked back. Yes the Procomp shocks are cheap but IMHO it's false economy. HTH's, Mick.
  5. Gent's, My 110 has the above winch, I'm doing away with the remote & switching it from the cab. I've figured out the solenoid wiring for in & out but can't get the warning LED's on the winch to illuminate. (I like LED's ) I've looked on Super Winch's web site & Google for a wiring diagram but can't find one for the 9.5 (the wiring appears to differ from the 9.0, white seems to be +12v, red = in & black = out. When I say "seems to be" the winch works) Any ideas? Cheers, Mick.
  6. Richard, Did you write the article in the link? If so would you mind it being linked to within the Technical Archive? Mick.
  7. Ah, Cheers Bowie. Anybody got a picture they are willing to post please?
  8. Forgive the hijack but I'm considering a pair of lockers for my (2000) 110. I've heard a lot of praise for the Ashcroft locker but they don't seem to do one for the Salisbury. If that is the case is there anything wrong with mismatching lockers? (i.e. an Ashcroft in the front & a Detroit in the back)?
  9. Cheers Mickey, Sorry to be a pain but is there any chance of a wider angle pic? Compressor appears to be mounted on the alternator bracket but I can't tell for sure. (My lump doesn't have a compressor so I don't know how they are mounted)
  10. Mickey, Any chance of a picture of your set up please? (just under the bonnet) Cheers, Mick.
  11. Gent's, Since fitting the 4.6 to my (ex Td5) 110 I have fried 2 (new) alternators in less than 300 miles. The only thing I can find that I think I have done wrong is with the wiring. I think the 12v feed to the alternator excitation should be momentary but I have connected it to a supply that is always on with the ignition, would you expect this to cook the alternator? Thanks, Mick.
  12. It does look like a standard 240v connector that we use at work (similar to ones used on domestic appliances but without the chamfered corners) from the picture. Can you retake the picture with a ruler next to it though?
  13. Glad it's sorted... & for those of us that don't have a freebie what does the anvil symbol mean? "Should have bought a HD product" perhaps? Wher's my coat...
  14. Thanks Gent's, What is " C & U " an acronym for? Construction & Use?
  15. Gent's, I've been reading through the mot testers manual & have a question. My 110 is shod with creepy crawlers, I've fitted the widest extended arches I can find but the tyres still stick out by about 3/4". Reading the manual it doesn't seem to mention this as long as the tyres don't foul on anything, am I missing something? Mods, sorry if this is posted in the wrong place, please move if it is. Cheers, Mick.
  16. Was trying to rule out the HG as in MHO it would blow the coolant out of the expansion tank and not pool on the valley gasket as yours appears to be doing. I guess the thermostat housing you have mentioned is a good a place as any to start. I've never found a coolant drain point on a v8, I've always just undone the bottom hose.
  17. If you run the engine with the coolant expansion tank cap off do you see bubbles? (try it at tick over and whilst revving the engine) Does the engine overheat or has it ever done so?
  18. Excellent link. Thank very much Ralph, much appreciated.
  19. Gent's, I've been looking at a radio body 101 that's in very good nick but has never been registered civy side. It is still sporting military plates & I can find the chassis number but it doesn't have any release paper work from the MOD. From the chassis number & Gaydon's help I can probably find out her age but will the DVLA issue a registration plate without release paper work? Thanks for any help you can give, Mick.
  20. It's a long shot but have you got dislocation cones fitted?
  21. You know your brakes are defective and your driving it on the road?!
