Gents,
I'm sure mounting a second alternator on a Gems 4.6 has done before but I can't find any info on here or via Google.
Any chance of a pic of how it's done, bracket details & what belt you have used?
At the moment I'm not running an air con pump as a compressor but would like to if it's possible with the additional alternator.
Thanks in advance,
Mick.
Never looked under a P38.
Next time it happens try connecting a jump lead between the engine block and a known good "earth" ideally the -ve terminal of the battery.
If it makes no difference with a charged battery you will know the problem lies else where.
Edit: if whigling wires on the starter made a difference that's where I'd start looking.
Unless you are interested in the name alone forget Kenlowe.
Grab a tape measure & head down to your local scrappy or look on Fleabay, something like twin fans from a Mondeo is ideal & can be made to fit a Defender with ease.
Not sure about a Disco hence the tape measure.
Not ceiling tiles but we use insulation tiles that will stand temps in excess of 400 degrees, only trouble is they are around 2" thick.
Let me know if you want the details.
Gents,
My 4.6 110 is booked in for it's MOT on Friday, the only thing I'm a little worried about is the emissions check (assuming this is carried out at idle speed) even though I have a MOT friendly map as supplied by Nige.
Even when warm (IIRC this is defined as 68 degrees within MT) my truck's idle speed is bouncing between 700 & 1200 RPM & occasionally as high as 1400 RPM.
The "slow idle speed" is set at 880 RPM so is this just a case that my idle speed is set too low mechanically or am I missing something?
Cheers for your patience,
Mick.
Nige Et all,
Sorry for the hijack but can anybody point me in the direction of where to adjust this "trim" value please?
Before Fridge shouts at me I have tried google!
Both my batteries are under the passenger bucket seat.
As said above I have an Andersen connector on the outside of the seat box for jump starting duties.
If the seat has to come out its only 4 bolts when all is said & done.
