  1. Have to confess I thought it was a bit of a waste of all the show.... I did however like hte part where they had to clean the cars... Staged or not it was a laff... Hopefully next week back to a few more cars I'll never see in the flesh !
  2. Thanks Lewis.. I don't think he's planning on doing great mileage, unless of course he does start using it to pull his Westie. I'll direct him to this thread. Re off-road.. I'll agree that the TDi walks it's way through problems far easier and is much more capable when dealing with water, splashes, light mist etc. He's likes petrol, likes the noise and wants to just get something better than the 2.25 he's got now...
  3. And if you want to know how good that model is... Here is a shot of a real cockpit from a Spitfire in Conningsby... and one in the process of being restored..
  4. If you stumble across it David I'd appreciate the effort.. I've Googled a few possibles for them but a recommendation always goes further...
  5. I understand your concerns Lewis but I don't think he will be converted... He thinks like a few on here that Gods fuel is Petrol.... He's got a 911, Ceyenne and a Westfield on steroids pushing just over 450BHP... So a lil ole 3.5 on carbs pushing his 90 isn't going to be blisterinly fast, but a darn sight better then the 2.25 he's got right now ! He's only got it for occasional off road experiences, no wading as such and it'll probably be used for hauling the Westie to race meets instead of the Cayenne to save a few quid on fuel... I'll pass on your ideas for a 4 gear box and overdrive though.. Could be a reasonable combination for hauling the trailer...
  6. New PAS installed... Only difference from original was studs where the pulley connects. The old one had bolts.... I just used some new nuts and washers and used the studs... Was easier than getting the studs out and also meant I keep the belt tension adjuster in the same place and not have the battle with getting the bolts in against the belt tension... Now just gotta see if this one is leak free !
  7. Husband of a colleague in work has a Series 2 he is renovating. He needs a bulkhead but has failed to secure one on E-blag after several attempts. Does anyone make them any longer for the renovation market ? Does anyone know of a good one lying around waiting to be sold? Thanks in advance.
  8. Mine is Santana LT85 and has same gear configuration.... Does a V8 bolt onto LT77 Tony ? Is is just a Bellhousing change ?
  9. A good friend of mine would like to put a V8 3.5 (with Carbs) into his 90. It's a C reg... It currently has a 2.25 Petrol engine installed. It's got a 5-speed gearbox and the reverse gear is away from the driver, past 1st gear, and forward. (We didn't get under because of the snow and wet circumstances...) When dry we will try and extablish the gearbox type. The gearbox looks to be set further back than my V8 110. The engine is much further back than mine too.. Bellhousing is incredibly short from what we could see... We can see that new engine mounts will be required, new exhaust system, we are also guessing new props as it could mean a total move of transfer box as well unless you peeps can tell us if they are always located in the same place... What we could do with knowing is what else will we have to change? Is it probable we will need another gearbox ? Props? Re-work gearbox tunnel in the cab ? Can someone start the list of probables and actuals please. A few pictures attached.. Sorry, not likely to be much help but it was wet and cold.... Thanks in advance.....
  10. Thanks for that Andy.. I've seen a few kits advertised to re-furb these.. I may have a go but since the first one has lasted 145k it will hopefully be a while before another replacement is required... (However I may do just for a bit of learning...)
  11. Too different for a man of my abilities... And "bodge"... I'm not qualified to bodge stuff ! I'd need some serious training from one as well known as yerself Jim... Now the proud owner of the real macoy... Now all I need is this snow to buggar off and daylight to stay around until 9pm.... (Or a weekend to sneak up on me !!) And.. Looking at hte one posted above by Pyrover, the more I look and compare the two, the more I think it might be the same part ! Hey ho.... I got myself a brand spanking, never used in anger version... "My precious...."
  12. Not sure what you can mean Steve.. I'll have to call you and you can explain for me ! And on your comment... Why do people think they can just swipe over with the windscreen wipers and the car is ready to go.... Loads of them out there today with peep holes and a stack of snow on the bonnet... Just get the broom to it and sorted.... Or even better.. Just stay off the roads so us Orrible 4X4 lot can have a laff !
  13. Chuffed or what.... Just rang round a few Main Stealers and found one to be a Main Dealer.... Told me where someone else had the part on stock on screen, told me that it was now showing as a obsolete item. Retail for the new part should have been £200.85.... Was nice to them, told them I knew is was obsolete and did they want to clear the stock item and they are letting me have it for £120 !! :)
  14. Can't tell... Pulley different although the rest looks similar !! I'll go for one from a vendor...
  15. 3 inches or so of snow on the bonnet..... Main roads all crammed as lorries stuck on hills and no-one passing.... Headed in the 30 miles on the country lanes this morning.... Pulled one Merc Estate out of a slight ditch, helped one Z4 up a 1 in 50 incline and told him to ditch it and walk.... Seems we are useful in certain circumstances but it won't be long before the good Samaritans are forgotten once more to be re-labeled as planet killers.... I've not seen Mrs. Freak so excited for a while... The prospect of a few inches last night made her eyes twinkle...
  16. We'd better take this to PM or MSN as the Mod will be along in a minute and have a go for hijacking thread and being off topic... (U recon that pump shown would fit ?)
  17. I went the Panasonic toughook with Memory Map route... Sometimes I plug in an external 100Gig USB driver for extra maps, music, Movies etc.... Laptop has touchscreen which can help to zoom in and out while you have one hand on the wheel etc... Works for me....
  18. Glad to hear you are on the mend matey..... Still trying to sort weekends out here but will get to you soon enuff...
  19. Ok.. So I got engine number under 24G 10 (24G043...) so it'll be the ANR one then... And looking at your one Pyrover, it's from a later version (EFi) and pulley wheel is totally different... May have to go hunting then... Thanks again to all... (What took you so long Ralph ! You still not feeling well matey ?)
  20. Can't believe this is so hard to nail.... I think the part is ANR2003.. It's a on a 110 CSW 3.5 V8 1989... Pics from top and bottom.. Anyone care to clear things up for me.. This appears to be the only thing now/currently dropping oil onto my drive !! (Connections are good. Looks to be coming out from behind pulley wheel..) Also price variations are mad (If this is the part..) £124.99 (Ex VAT) £180.77 (Ex VAT) £135.00 (VAT situation unknown) £135.00 (Ex. VAT advertised as pattern part..) Is this one of those "Use genuine parts" parts or would pattern part suffice ?? Thanks in advance.. Neil
  21. The rest of the world caught up with me this weekend so I didn't get to do the over-run tests or the plug chop. Will aim to chop plugs one evening this week and post the results.... Why does life do that? You are happy just doing your own thing and then "BANG"...... People remember you are alive !!
  22. Looks like good work again Paul.... And, you seem to be blessed with some fantastic lanes over there.... I will be taking up your offer of a drive around one day soon... Neil
  23. Replaced all my front units a while back. The indicators are fine but that's because the lamps are not on consistently.. The sidelights had the popping bulbs. When warm the fittings became very soft and the bulbs just popped out from the spring pressure. Eventually I retrieved the old plastic backplates, cleaned up the connectors, inserted the old plastic into the new rubber (aligning the drain holes at the bottom - as mentioned above, they were not in correct position) and screwed the new lenses on !!! Not failed since. Just carp quality plastic used ! Got the units from Scorpion.. Never again. Genuine parts only for me from now on...
  24. Have to agree with Trev.... I don't give a hoot where it is, I just want to be there instead of here... But if you would kindly share it's location I'll start dreaming of a trip there....
