  1. Can't you see I'm too embarrassed to show my face now... Hence Ralph doing all the posting ! Have to admit I don't know how it happened, just sort of slipped left into a ditch ! Steve was a hero... Left a nice warm house to galavant along a lane after two nutters he'd only met an hour before ! Can't thank him enough... If a diagram will suffice we can probably manage that for you, but the exaggeration of angles and inclines will be in my favour.....
  2. Soft top sounds like hell... Do you have a special set of waterproofs to use in the LR then ?
  3. [GULP] Notes..... Ropes, recovery points, courage, clean pants....... (Mobile phone, Ralphs number, Ralphs other number....) U recon these recovery points will suffice or do I go out and buy a big front bumper ?
  4. Hi Chris.... Coming across in the 110. Not raised or anything special. Will have MT's on and not worried about a few (more) scratches... No winch so will be reliant on others if we get stuck ! Will have laptop/gps/memory map and friend as co-driver... Will also have some cameras to capture some of the event for all..... Looking forward to it... (Steve, if you are going, want to go over in convoy ?)
  5. Ralph (Western) is heading eastwards over to the HERTS/CAMBS area for this weekend.... He's staying with us and we were wondering where to go for some open and useable lanes on Saturday 9th Dec. Distance not too much of a problem... East Anglia is in striking distance or Bedford area etc. Any suggestions ? And.... Anyone else care to join us or meet for a beer/tea/coffee and chat etc.? We can either meet out somewhere if we are going to try some lanes together or even get a few of us together back at chez Freak Saturday sometime.... (Date corrected)
  6. No worries.... Just shows we both have Land Rovers !!! Oh, and my foot still dry !
  7. Well... Seems to me the misfits need to enter again, win and see what they say.... I'm happy to come and capture the event in pictures, including prize giving to ensure they report the event well !
  8. We just had our corporate christmas lunch... All the Indian people over here for training were taking photo's of each other on their phones, silly hats on their heads.... Didn't see them offended in any way ! I also thought that people coming to the UK to live had to abide by our laws and understand we have customs and religion that may differ to theirs ! So why are we tippee toeing around the minority. I bet they will celebrate whatever they need to without concern for our feelings !
  9. A friend has a 90 with LR genuine original 10 year old wheels. Since putting my AT's on he's wondering what tyres could go on his original rims.... The old tyres only show 205R16 Would these rims potentially take BFG AT's 235/85R16 ? (Or anyone got a deal going on AT's with rims ?) Thanks in advance.. Again !
  10. Thanks for the responses... I wasn't far out then, so no damage done yet ! (I'm assuming the response means a successful clutch change Ralph...)
  11. I've got two sets of tyres, AT's and MT's... Both BFG's Car is 110 V8 3.5 litre (1989) Tyre sizes; AT's 265/75R16 MT's 235/85R16 When they were fitted I was advised the AT's should be 28 front and 38 rear What's the voice of the forums.... (And since a friend is currently borrowing the AT's, should the pressures be different for a 90) Thanks in advance...
  12. Cheers Red... Doesn't happen each time.. One is switched and one perm live. (Is not connected to a switched supply though ! It's perm live off the loom.. Same as clock and cigarette lighter...) I'm gonna hotwire direct to battery and see if the problem stops.. If it does I'll run the wire properly.
  13. We should just all club in and buy it for the forum spare truck !!!
  14. I've still got AM CB's..... Never could have a license for those as they were considered illegal... Probably still are !
  15. So would you fit one just for one trip or just tell the missus to breathe harder and warm the car up....
  16. It is on a permanent live Ralph.. Nice purple wire that feeds the clock and cigarette lighter... I recon I'll have to suck and see as I'm resisting a winch for now so have no genuine need for two batteries in the car !
  17. Read and done... Thanks Tony... Went to local garage and drop test & charging all look ok ! So.. Should I run a fused wire direct to battery for constant feed to radio ? (Is off same loom feed as cigarette lighter presently) Or do I just say "Hey ho... It's gonna happen" (Don't really want to go the second battery route... Makes the radio a bit expensive....)
  18. When starting the 110 during the last few weeks I've had a number of instances where the radio/cd player thingy gets re-set as if all power cut. Thinking about this I also noticed this morning that the voltmeter was under 12 volts before firing up the engine. When turning the engine over it was at zero volts and the radio reset... Is it time to think about battery replacement ? (Alternator is new) Engine fires every time and spins well on the starter. If... I said IF I need to consider replacement, should I go for higher amp rated battery in case ? (Sorry no idea what the current rating is without going outside to look...) Thanks in advance,
  19. Paul.... Just wear double layers of Lederhosen.... Have a hot blonde beside you and you won't worry about the temperature, hot or cold... Me, I just jump in the A6 with heated seats when it's cold !
  20. Leave the place standing... I'm over there on 8th to play with Freelander 2, TDV8 Diesel Range Rover Sport and Range Rover models.... I'd love to hear about your day / see some pics so i know what I've let myself in for....
  21. See.... Why do all thes epeople in here keep saying how good those oil burners are when quite clearly they are all doing it wrong... If Jezza says V8 Petrol, it must be the right engine to have.....
  22. Well when these hit our fleet I'm sure that our people will just switch off without a thought.... I wonder how many component failures we will get in the next few years....
  23. Ralph u r a nut..... You could have waited til daylight and dry conditions..... I'll disconnect the bonnet retainer one day, flap it back and try slapping them in.... (Now to choose a day...)
  24. Oops.... Not an answer from a qualified person here but I recon it's time to replace.. Pressure will mean easy repair for the Joe Public LR driver is not to hand...
