  1. Got a lot more serious yesterday and I limped the 110 home.... Jumped underneath to find this !!! Not gonna bother trying to mend that ! New prop will be as cheap as getting someone to sort it for me..... Neil (Anyone want a spare front prop... Let me know.. It's free to anyone who wants it..)
  2. Well done Rich... Some are gonna love it and some hate it... Personally I think it looks great and I hope you have loads of fun in that car.... Looks like a great investment from here.... Do Land Rovers manage to make cars with that "New Car" smell too ?? Neil
  3. Hi Alan..... Nice to hear you are lovin it (Sorry to use someone elses phrase...) The smiles keep coming but you are always listening for the sound of something not quite right.. Also, get the second mortgage arranged as you will find things to spend on that are essential !! Welcome Neil
  4. Welcome to the madhouse ! Mooahhaaaaaa....
  5. Well I didn't see the joins... So I guess the Invision peeps did a great job then ! Well done them and well done to the Admins and Moderators for sitting back, doing nothing and letting the professionals have a go ! Can someone give us a nudge when the gin fund is low so we can keep topping up as required....
  6. Ralph, That's because yours have a few hundred kilos of equipment laying against them... They daren't move !!
  7. And when they are 19 years old and battered by trees, the rattle big time !
  8. Rad is the one that was in there with the 3.5.... Looks standard kit and fits across the whole width of the gap in the 110. 3.5 ran constant temp. Moved same sender unit over to the 3.9 and it has always run cool. Stat changed as assumed it was stuck open. 88 degree stat installed and it appeared to be running hot.... Took it out and stuck 82 degree version in. Connect up the electricery and is was running at 77 degrees, fairly consistently. Installed another 88 degree stat (managed to drive over the last one and destroy it) and new VDO + calibrated sender gauge showing running at 60 ish. Will connect up electrickery for official number one evening this week. I'm assuming the new stat is stuck open as there was no evidence of the temp climbing while driving last night. Temp came up fine on tick-over and fans cut in at the required 88 degrees. (According to the VDO gauge) Don't believe the stat is being bypassed as temp was holding at 77 degrees previously..... Plumbing all standard... Ordered another 88 degree stat while ordering other parts onlien last night so will check temps and have another go later this week.... I'll also do as suggested Ralph and boil my collection of stats to see when they are opening and closing, if they are... Neil
  9. Ooooo.. The anticipation.... Too much to take... I'm going to lie down for a while....
  10. I've no probs with X-Eng logo... Got some bling on the 110 from Si.... Just get them printed and lets get wearing.... (Oh and can we consider Nige's suggestion... A one way ticket...) Send him with some Wodka money and he can turn native within a year.... Neil
  11. Is what I was thinking Ralph.... But not such a range I suspect.... I would imaging they should close nearer the opening temperature... If not, engines can run well under optimum temperature... Anyone else have a view ? Neil
  12. Well.... Divster.... The switch had been knocked over and was on 6 cylinders... Tacho was ok other than that.... Juts out a bit on the rear and must have been flicked by a wire or something when I re-inserted the dash... VDO temp gauge and calibrated sender fitted, as well as new 88 degree thermostat to replace the 82 degree one... (Not connected the PC back to check actual temps recorded by ECU yet) VDO gauge now showing car running at approx. 60 degrees when mobile !! Can someone clarify something for me please.... Are thermostats supposed to open and close during normal operation to try and maintain an optimum temperature? Have I just had a run of duff thermostats or should I expect to see the temperature hold around 88 degrees ? Thanks in advance Neil
  13. Fantastic news.... Well done Si.... Neil
  14. Glad to hear it went well Mo.... Just make sure poor ole Troyes is ready for you down there... Oooerrr.... Neil
  15. Dirk.... Does your engine have an oil cooler ? If so, you may want to consider removing it. My 3.9 came with oil cooler and the oil filter was lower down as a consequence of the extra pipework. Once removed it raised hte oild filter back to it's expected height and cleared all the internals of the lower engine bay... (Mine was 3.5 V8 formerly so issues may be different...) Neil
  16. Ralph..... I don't believe anyone will ever convince you otherwise ! I recon in 30 years you will be saying the same when someone tries to get you into a hydrogen cell Land Rover.... Neil
  17. Already ordered from Merlin.... In case anyone else wants an alternative... Merlin Website (VDO selected) I have no association with Merlin and cannot comment on their service yet... Neil
  18. Exactly.. What thread type am I talking as no site I've found yet tells you which sender for which vehicle !! It can't be so hard..... Edit: Found a very helpful man at Merlin Racing... Water temperature unit for Rover V8 is 5/8 UNF for any others that need the information. Neil
  19. I looked there but thought there would be a recommended UK source !!! Can someone warn Richard I'll be calling soon......
  20. What comments could I possibly make !! I'll be doing some online investigations tonight as well.... Still want a calibrated VDO temp gauge and sender... Neil
  21. Ok.. So where do you get these bushes then ? I'm willing to try most things twice..... Neil
  22. I'm ripping it out this weekend for a look Dave.. I'll let you know what changing all the connections does ! LOL.
