  1. I've got a rear mat if you are interested. Also got an aluminium Disco floor if your interested.
  2. I assume you mean apart from the engine.... lol
  3. Ta. Their website doesn't say anything about selling only chassis components. I've emailed them, so will wait and see what they reply with.
  4. TTT - anyone else have any thoughts on this? Cheers.
  5. I think its a different output shaft as a min, is the bell housing different too? Think I'd stick with the LT77 myself. The R380 isn't really that much stronger as far as I know, and if you are breaking an LT77 with a tdi engine, then I don't believe the R380 would last any longer. That said, in my first Defender I managed to break the R380 in it (stock 300Tdi with a tweaked pump).
  6. I sort of go against the grain, as for years I've been running some 33" Simex's which are something like a 290/90 on a stock ride height Disco. You will need to trim the arches and fit some wheel spats/arch flares though.
  7. Cheers. So does that mean the ones Paddock sell are cheap rubbish, or are they fairly good quality still? Thanks.
  8. Hi all. I'm overhauling my SIII and need some new chassis parts; rear cross member and some body mounts. Where would you recommend buying these from? I've been looking at the ones on Paddock Spares: http://www.paddockspares.com/pp/SERIES/Chassis/Rear_x_member_with_extentions.html But I don't want to end up buying some cheap rubbish that will have rusted away in 2 years time. Would you say these are ok to go for, or should I be looking elsewhere? I don't mind paying a bit more for quality items either. Thanks.
  9. Hi. Does anyne know who CS Components are who how they can be contacted? I bought a new roof mounted light bar for my Disco from them via eBay last year. But while driving home down the A34 just before Christmas one of the welds failed on the bar causing it to part detatch, mangle the other end and hit the roof and windscreen. I also now have a cracked windscreen too. I'm only glad the bar didn't detatch fully and go flying behind me into other cars. Anyhow I've tried emailing the two email addresses for CS Components that I've got from PayPal but I've not had anyword back from them or found any other way to contact them. Would appreciate any help anyone can offer. Thanks.
  10. Hi. I did ask ages back but failed to do anything about it then. Could do with some advice please. I've got an early 91'ish 200tdi Disco. The heater fan has packed up or jammed on it and in the cold weather it's proving to be a real pain. I know it's not easy to get at the blower fan motor. But does anyone know what I need to remove to get at it??? I had a look at the weekend but to me it looks like it might require the entire dash to be dropped off, anyone know if there is another way?? Thanks.
  11. Thanks. What airsprings do you run (assume longer/bigger??) and how do you recalibrate them thanks. Also do you have any pics?
  12. If you are daft enough, like me to want to buy a P38 and off road it properly what sort of size tyes could I run? I've currently got a D1 with 33's and hacked wheel arches. Would these fit a P38? I'd want to retain the air suspension so it's easier for my partner to get in and out of the vehicle. Happy to cut the arches and add a flare kit though.
  13. I like carbs personally, ok I know they are old tech and can't be tuned like a modern EFI. That said, I wouldn't run twin SU's, good reliable carbs they might be, but you'll drop HP and probably use more fuel. Personally I'd look at an Edelbrock high rise manifold and a Weber/Edlebrock 500cfm 4 brl carb. Either that or look into a megasquirt conversion.
  14. Thanks for the suggestions. It was a rear shock, gave up so haven't tried the fronts yet. The hacksaw method may win out here as I'll possible me on my own doing it. Cheers
  15. Ok got me some new shocks but not sure how to get the old ones off. Mainly the bottom nut, I assume you are meant to hold the shock on the small flat part of the threaded stem to stop it spinning the whole shock body and then use a big spanner to undo the nut. Sadly mine seems fairly well rusted up. Are there any tips, techniques or tools to make it easier? Help much appreciated
  16. I've got some fibreglass wheelarch flares on my Disco, sadly I've broken one. Anyone know where I can get more? I did see a year or so ago someone selling identical looking ones in rubberised plastic, these would be ideal but I can't find them for sale anywhere now. Please help. Thanks CD
  17. It is possible to replace the panhard rod bushes (D1) with poly items instead of rubber? If so where can I get some from? Thanks.
  18. If its only a bit of exhaust go to a custom exhaust shop and get them to fab a bit up and fit it, it'll probably work out cheaper too. Either that or buy exhaust bits from somewhere like Jetex and fit them yourself.
  19. Is it 3 or 5 door and what rims? There are several answer depending on your stand point. If its just for looks and road use then you can go bigger, if its for serious off road work then you'll have more issues. Stock steel Disco rims are ok, but after market ones have a better off set (makes them stick out furter), you need this in order to retain good steering lock and prevent too much rubbing on the radius arms. Also are you after height or width or both? With only little mods you can fit 31.10.50's on ok, they look good and chunky. Think these are about a 265 equiverlent. If you are preparred to trim your arches and fit some aftermarket flares then you can get as big as 34" tyres on a stock ride height.
  20. I still can't really see the issue with that blue one, it looks ok to me for what it is. As for cutting corners, well its usually down to money, if it was no object I'd buy a new Defender pickup and be done with it. But that ain't the cheap option IMO. I do rather like the Longranger look, I've had a price for the cab and its not too OTT, think I'll probably mix and match my own ideas with a few of there's. I'm sure it won't be concors class vehicle at the end of it, but if I like it (which I will ) then I can't see the problem. Thanks for all your input. Gives me a lot to think about, now I'm just hunting for a suitable vehicle to take the cutting tools too!!!
  21. My idea was more like this, but retaining the full length, partyl to aviod any SVA issues with a modified chassis and also becuase the larger load area would be handy.
  22. Am I missing somthing? It seems fine to me, to you have a personal grudge against the owner?
  23. Sounds good, I've always fancied it but not really had anyone to form a team with. Although I'll admit I'm more of an idea's man than anything else.
  24. Do you happen to know which magazine/month? I've had a look on the LROi website, but its not that helpful. Also surprisingly I can't find any info or even a picture of a full length Disco pickup, quite a few bobtails. I thought there would be a few...
