  1. Just dragging this up from the depths, first event is now less then a month away, hope some from here will attend or enter.
  2. Look on the bright side Nige, you didn't hurt yourself....
  3. Jon, POR works well on rust or rough surfaces, on smooth or even clean steel is does as you say peel off in sheets ! See you Sunday. James, never been a fan of Hammerite, find it rather brittle, chassis black was my first thought, tho came across the POR Hardnose that if the blurb can be believed should work well. (http://www.frost.co.uk/por15-hardnose-paint-grey-946ml.html) Shame you can't make Sunday.
  4. I've got a lot of cutting and welding still to do but planning ahead and looking at chassis paint, used the POR Chassis Black in the past that has proved quite durable tho looking at POR15 Hardnose paint, has anyone used it or can recommend a good alternative ?
  5. Any news from Steve, I assume he's okay, need to know when I can put a bill in for the mess he made of my passenger seat !!
  6. No it is not the old Mud Factory, the site is just off the A22 on the other side of East Grinstead going towards Forest Row.
  7. Hilux 3.0 D4D last long trip towing the 90 she returned 30MPG, most of that was doing a steady 60MPH as indicated on the GPS.
  8. Thanks for that, I have no intention of dragging the caravan down any ruts ! Have to make sure we are one of the first 10 on site :-)
  9. Ground clearance is about a foot, it's the approach and departure angles that are terrible ! Is the main car park far away from the burger shack or whatever passes for the main part of the site ?
  10. Heidi and Dylan may be ok, my feet will stick out the end ! I'll take that as a no then !
  11. Whats access to the site like, will we get a 6 meter caravan in with very low ground clearance ?
  12. If we get enough people then a bulk delivery should be cheaper or even collect from HobbyWeld or Adams, could combine it with a trip to the sea side, plenty of room in the playbus for lots of bottles Lots of options an phone numbers, thanks.
  13. Michael, James I can think of at least 6 of us locally who are being bent over by BOC, how about trying to get a bulk order discount from hobbyweld.co.uk or www.adamsgas.co.uk ?
  14. Thanks chaps you have confirmed my initial thoughts. Blue is the armature.
  15. Hope someone can point me in the right direction, I keep finding conflicting information. New winch motor has the usual three terminals, tho rather then labels there are colours. My problem is which is which ? Google seems to say Red is A, Yellow F1 and Blue F2 My old motor the Blue would be A and F1 and F2 yellow and red, this is also the case on my mates 8274
  16. EHO 891S, Blue with a full length roof rack, mate had nearly finished restoring is :-( If being driven it will be moving slowly as it's stuck in first gear.
  17. What is this forum coming too, took 19 posts till we find the correct answer.....
  18. Thanks for all the pointers, looks line nothing a angle grinder and a box of sparks won't fix. 300Tdi Disco donor is now sitting on the drive awaiting it's fate once I get the detritus cleared out of the garage so I can get the project out.
  19. I forgot about the shock mounts, tho I'm going to use the Disco axles so it won't be a problem.
  20. 300Tdi, the RR chassis has the cage and replacement rear x-member attached, plan is to cut it all off and then weld to Disco chassis which will (hopefully !) have less rot. Not worried about out riggers and will use Disco running gear.
  21. I have it in my mind that a early RR chassis (1971) is the same as a D1 chassis with the exception of engine and gearbox mounts. Can anyone confirm/deny please ? (This is for a offroad only challenge vehicle so not worried about SVA)
  22. Nige, mine is driven by a toothed belt driven directly off the crank via a modified pulley, works faultlessly above and below water RED Winches do kits for 200/300Tdi's not sure how the serp on your V8 is routed, can you use part of the 300Tdi system ? If not, let me have some details, I can ask them to look into it as I know they are keen to make systems for TD5 and V8's.
  23. Your one indeed, to be honest I can't remember if I had it on when I was at your place, however I do use the A24 / A29 a lot and have never had a issue, external aerial makes all the difference.
