  1. I had to find this thread today for someone with a similar engine and similar woes. Now I have I'll do an update on all the other mods and tweaks done to it over the last 9 years ... as it has evolved loads more than when 1st finished ! Nige
  2. It cannot be wind up but all the power is going to front axle only this will feel strange at best but on tarmac vs dirt roads it will be worse the rear prop is still being powered and driving a diff / broken at speed …who knows what’s going on in there if he has to continue I would suggest remove rear prop
  3. And being such an unusual exotic build a video will be made for the webshop as these help others understand options build specs and give them an understanding of what to upgrade to 😎
  4. Tins my 5.2 at 60 psi in the rail for the big injectors absolutely fine whizzy fuel pumps can often just be a big issue with rover v8s the classic pump is more than good enough
  5. Trutrac do 10 spline ATBs and also do different poundage’s for front and rear units 😎
  6. Prob with being so far flung for me it’s a combo of spare time / fuel are near £2 litre / daft 5.2 v8 at 8-18 mpg one of those ice ideas / hard to sort issues
  7. Its nice, but not finished and with not road legal sorted not £35k worth ? Prob be a pig to get registered, but would be nice !
  8. New one posted UKMail 👍😂😂😂
  9. From our forum hosting team just so you all know !!
  10. A quaife is an ATB "Automatic Torque biasing" differential, vs a Traditional LSD "Limited Slip Diferential" Basically they do the same thing ATB via Gears, and a LSD Via Plates. And a Tru Trac is also an ATB, same as Ashcrofts ATB Bit like a Samsung vs an iphone - you can do the same with both - just differently ......... ATBs are set at the factory for the "grip", and TruTracs can be build for Rear or Fronts (Rears give more grip) Quaifes same front and rear However, series 3 being 10 spline your options are limited, You can buy new Quaife and TruTrac, - both are BIG money I am unaware of any plated LSD 10- spline available new. Plated LSDs also wear quite quickly on road use and need resetting, ATBs don't have this issue, and LSDs with plates need special oils, ATBs EP90 Plated LSDs like the KAM units can be "Tuned" for more / less grip, but again 10 spline now very rare, so one option would be to go 24 spline and add Ashcroft ATB + 24 spline HD series shafts, then you have more choice. ATBs or LSD set up correctly will make a significant difference to handling both on and off road, also I have argued with many people that a LSD/ATB is actually softer of half shafts as the open diff lets you spin wheels etc, meaning 100% of all power is going to just the one rear shaft, or, in the case of your S3 all power to just 1 poor half shaft, as opposed to ATB / LSD balancing the output But I have never heard of anyone NOT liking then, as opposed to say a Detriot Autolocker in rears, those are marmite units !!!!!!!!!!!!! Lastly be careful of second-hand units, often these are old, may have been mistreated and parts can be near of impossible to get..... I think I may have a 10 spline Tru Trac on webshop, need to double check as been offline for MRI scans and Physio on elbow having managed to break elbow in 2 places at Christmas - let me know if intersted ! 17. Morning All, I have just been advised of 2 x Members who kindly support the forum, and who should have - but did not have the Status and benefits that come with either "Long Term Financial Supports" or "Financial Supporters" status, this has now been corrected and apologies to both Vogler & Northwards Paypal is a bit quirky at times, and doesn't always advise of any new payments to us - hence I missed both the members above. So, is there anyone else who contributes to the forum upkeep and funding that does not have the correct status ? Either post here or PM me please Thanks to all who continue to support and help fund LR4x4 it is hugely appreciated and apologies again to both Vogler and Northwards - so so sorry chaps Nige On behalf of the A&M Team (but as treasurer the guilty one ) )
  18. Hello Members of LR4x4 !! You may have already noticed that we have created a new section of the forum that we hope will be of benefit to LR4x4 Forum Supporters, whilst the Forum itself is visible to all, access is restricted to those who have contributed financially or otherwise assisted in managing LR4x4. ie Forum Financial Supporters, and Long term Financial Supporters The “Special Offers Forum” will be a place where businesses that have applied and been reviewed by the A&M team and informs Forum Supporters that they are entitled to claim discounts on products and services from time to time, we expect with the popularity of LR4x4 this Forum will grow ! Please note: Any discounts offered are solely between the business concerned and individual Forum Supporters. As ever using LR4x4 to post advertisements or services is not permitted. LR4x4 does not endorse any particular product or service. Those offering discounts please note that there are certain conditions that you must agree to abide by in order to use the Special Offers section: You may submit one post within the Special Offers Forum in order make Forum Supporters aware of the discount/s you are offering. You must then restrict any discussion relative to the discount within that thread ONLY. Offering or advertising discounts outside of the Special Offers Forum is not permitted - no exceptions. Finally: Thank you for helping those who support LR4x4. Posted on behalf of the LR4x4 A&M Team

  20. I am about to drag the engine out of my V8 90 (1986) for a complete new clutch I have been told that later Defenders have a slightly differing pedla box vs my 1986 version which gives a stronger down force for the same foot work  Can anyone shed light on this please ??? What are the differing part numbers, and if I get the tower unit what other bits do I need to swap over to the later type ? Nige
