Oh nige.......only you! At least I know what to buy you for Christmas now....

I wonder if this will make his typing any better?

Of course it is! just weld it up. I would also weld reinforcing plates on either side if these have a habit of cracking.

It's well worth uprading to a 3 pin one as the indicators then don't slow down when you pull up at junctions etc. the third connection is simply an earth.

Make something up to suit.....
Do not weld a U bolt to the axle casing thats not the correct solution.
You could also consider reversing they way things are done - ie fit the U bolt around the leaf spring and fabricate some mounts on the axle tube so that the threads are at the top of the tube. Have a look at how the guys fit volvo portal axles to their leaf sprung landrovers and it'll give you some ideas.

I made disk brake conversions front and rear
A disk handbrake conversion
Power steering conversion
Made my own adaptor to couple and LT77 to a series transfer box
Etc.......those are just some of the more interesting ones.....

Discovery air filter mount brackets welded to a fabricated bracket that picks up the aircon compressor mounting holes.
I use a defender heater.

That's an early defender one. Not saying it couldn't be fitted but it's not a nuts and bolts job.
There is a standard landrover part number for the series lock, which is little more than a hasp and staple that you put a padlock through.

You don't want oil to be too cool otherside the water vapour generated as part of combustion cannot boil off. That's why you often find mayonnaise under the caps of cars only ever used for short journeys.
If you were running fully synthetic then anything up to 150 degrees is acceptable.
Vr1 is 20/50 made from dead dinosaurs, so anything up to about 120 degrees is acceptable.
However it's important not to run the oil too cool as mentioned above. You really want a minimum of about 85 degrees, but ideally want it to be closer to the boiling point of water.
Most modern cars fitted with oil temp gauges (at least all the hire cars I've had recently) oil temp sits between 100 and 105 cruising on the motorway to give you an idea.

Cough chav world (halfords).......cos it's what all the chavs use when they mesh the grilles on their novas cos it's well wicked innit......
-
Just chop about a 300tdi exhaust to make it fit. Cheap and easy and they don't rot out that often.....

Yes I've done it but can't remember the wiring, but in short all I did was looked at the defender wiring diagram and worked it out from there.
Iirc there is a live feed ( switched ignition) that loops in and out of the park switch connection (the two pin connection) into the 3 pin plug. The other two connections into the three pin are earth, and the switched live from your rear wiper switch.
As I say that's all from memory but check the defender wiring diagram it's pretty simple.....

You could always use the Tonk method of getting around this problem........it worked for him........it involves ensuring that you get a good run up before entering the garage.........

IMHO another bloody good reason not to fit a suspension lift to your truck......
And that before I get onto the fact that it ruins the handling and very often reduces axle articulation aswell! I never understand why people find the need to fit them.......

Gimp cage......lmfao!

I guess the fan turned into a windmill and kept your engine
Er.....what fan?

Cough......200tdi.......fan belt snapped about 5 miles north of Basingstoke.........drove all the way home with no water pump, and it still didn't overheat.........
You could have had a 200tdi machined from scratch from unobtamium the length of time you've been pissing about with that v8!
:-p

Where is the like button.......

where do you get those power cable boots from? been looking for them ever since I installed my TDS.
p.s. the wireless remote I have is plopplops it is intermittent and when it does decide to do something it only ever spools out.
that reminds me, I really ought to do an install write up on that haha
He nicked them off of me cos he's too tight to order his own! :-p

carp........lol........I see the childish anti-swear filter is still in force.........a bit pathetic really IMHO.......
What are the options for bulkhead repair?

Just cut out the old and replace with new metal. Bulkheads are nice in that it's pretty much all flat panels so very easy to repair as no compound curves.
