Ooooh those are a bit chavtastic bling bling nige!!

I just used diesel series rubbers. No mods required at all to any of the engine mounts. I seem to recall it was tight to get to the bolts on the offside mount to do them up (had to use a spanner rather than a socket) but that was all.

Wot he said. A 2.25 petrol mount will bolt straight onto a disco 200tdi. I use standard series mounts on my engine.

I used standard 2.25 petrol mounts when i fitted the disco 200 into my series. Its a nuts and bolts job then as it all lines up perfectly.

You can put it anywhere really. However I'd prefer to put it on the engine side of the filter. It wont be as accurate as it would have been actually in the oil gallery, but the gauges are very inaccurate anyway.

Nige
B - battery positive
D - warning light
Do not use W terminal - this is used for rev counters on diesels. Yours wasnt diesel the last time i looked, so take your tacko feed directly from the edis unit where it is already.

Yup - I'd agree - just run permanent 4wd and use and lt230 and associated pto. The 2wd conversion kit is pants anyway. I've been running permanent 4wd now for many years.

Plus large rusty lump added to the scrap pile :-)

I'm going to be annoying now, because I don't have a source to hand, except the vague 'TeriAnn Wakeman has mentioned this, but I don't know if it's on her web site, or if it was just a forum comment'.
I thought someone in North America made / assembled uprated front shafts / UJs, to cope with the V8s etc they sometimes use over there.
I'll make that a statement, not a question.
I will concede that by the time transport and import costs are taken into account, the price in the UK might be considered almost prohibitive, but for a man like you who has everything else .... :-)
Good Luck.
Yes they are made in the states, but its actually easier and cheaper to find a set of volvo portals. The manufacturer of said shafts will not supply them outside of the united states either.
Maybe i should have phrased it as no-one makes front shafts at reasonable cost!
The kam shafts are a straight swap.
Series diff housings and defender ones are basically the same and most parts are interchangeable.

You dont have to go 3.54. You can change the internals of a 4.7 to 24 splines.
I run pegged diffs front and rear in my series. I run Kam 4.75 ring and pinions (much stronger than stock series 4.7's) on ARB's. Rear is 24 spline with Kam 24 spline uprated shafts.
Front is still 10 spline inners, but i have uprated the outers to 24 spline lwb ones. The front shafts are the weak point as nobody makes uprated front shafts for a series. Not only the inner shafts, but also the u/j's in the tractor joints break under serious abuse.

Quite agree - I wouldnt convert my series to coils. On parabolics and with some simple shock mods mine has more travel than many a coiler, plus my springs dont fall out all the time!
Ride is not really any different to any of the coilers I've been in.
If you really want to do this then why not just get hold of the rear salisbury axle from a 110 and use that. Its then a nuts and bolts job without lots of pissing about. You can swap the series 4.7 ring and pinion into it and its an easy job. The front axle then is your only real problem.........

Sounds like you're trying to make life very difficult for yourself.
If you want a coil spring landrover just sell what you've got an buy a 110. Its not worth the agro chopping things about. Series landrovers have leaf springs, amd I frankly can see no reason for trying to change them to be anything else!
However as an alternate, how about just sticking with the axles you've got, and putting the extra width in by reversing the wheel rims? My series runs standard width series axles, but with reversed 8 spokes the outsides of the rims fill a set of defender wheel arch spats nicely.

We use a Hilmor bender at work for bending this stuff. Works a treat and much less agro than pissing about with bending springs etc.

It likely won't care, but if in doubt use Cat6 as that's screened.
Er.....no it aint!!! Cat6 is available in either utp or FTP. Its not screened by default.
Just use shielded cat5 (marketed as FTP). You dont want to get into cat6 really - its too finiky from an installation standard point of view. However if you are installing cat5 make sure you use external grade cable - its not easy to get hold of and should have a black sheath. I know from experience that non external grade stuff breaks down over time.
To be frank UTP will be fine run alongside domestic electrics and wont cause you any issues. We've even stopped using FTP in industrial areas these days as its just not necessary.

Mines always read hot too. At normal temperature it sits just under the red. I just ignore it knowing that if it ever goes any higher then its a problem.....
