I've got that size of them on my series, but cant really give you a straight answer as mines so modified. I run them on reversed 8 spokes with defender arches, but I've also had to trim the defender arches as well as the alloy arches.
You'll also need to chop out the tops of the rear wheel arch boxes and raise them up by about 3" or so or they'll just rub like crazy!
I run series axles, but with Arb's and KAM rear shafts.

Depends what the 200tdi is from - a defender one will bolt straight to a series box without changing anything.
If its a disco 200 then you either need to swap the back plate as you suggest or do a small amount of machining.

I've got a mountney wheel on mine, as with PAS i find a smaller wheel is much more comfortable, and you no longer need the origional series bus style steering wheel. That said I ran the mountney even before i had PAS cos I hated the series one!

This is it - I couldnt even tell you what a Toyota 60 series looks like cos we just dont have them over here!
Most of us over here just tend to chop a lump out of the front cross member and just fit a standard RHD PAS box.

If you use the standard defender lower column mounts, then two of the bolt holes line up with existing ones in the series footwell. You simply need to drill th other two through the footwell and it all bolts up.
The series steering lock will bolt up to the defender column also. I appreciate the parts may not be so available elsewhere, but bearing in mind you've got to sourse the steering box from one, you might as well get the column from the same truck!

If you use a 300tdi defender column then the splines are the same as on a series 3 so the series wheel will fit straight on - end of problem!

Er......isnt it easier just to use a defender steering column?? Thats how I did mine!

errrrr...........whats a v8 firing order again???
Cant remeber now I've had me nice reliable diesel for so long!

Well I run them so the simple answer is yes - if you can understand a wiring diagram anything is possible.
However be aware that the series steering column is a different diamter (smaller) than a defender one so you'll need to pack it out somehow to mount it to the column. This wasnt a problem to me as I run a defender column as I run PAS.
The defender column is also about 2" longer than a series one, the extra distance being between the ignition barrel and the steering wheel. Because of that you'll not be able to use a defender column shroud.
You can wire in the defender wash/wipe module so that also gives you intermittent wipe and makes the wipers wipe automatically when the washers are pressed. Its all easy enough if you can follow a wiring diagram.
I didnt keep any notes of photos, so you'll have to work it out for yourself. The plugs are totally different so you have to cut them off and reconnect the wires as necessary.

You also need to bear in mind that a defender sensor will not work with a seruies gauge correctly. You need to change the sensor for a series one then the gauge will work correctly, as they are totally different resistance ranges.
I would also add that no defender came with a factory mounted thermostatic switch or electric fan, s the rad you've got is probably not from a defender. The series rad will keep the 2.5 petrol cool without any problems at all, so i would just use the standard series fan and cowling and you'll have no problems. I ran my series like this for many years. I've since found electric fans and thermo switches to be nothing but trouble so would avoid them at all costs. However as I'm now running a disco 200tdi its not possible to run an engine driven fan on one (otherwise I would!)

I can confirm that the bolts on a standard 3, 4 or 6 bolt box are M12's 10.9 grade as I've had to helicoil one on mine due to a damaged thread.

Weld a nut to it. Thats the only way i ever try to remove sheared bolts and I've never failed to remove them! IMHO those screw extractors are utterly useless!

Wot he said.......... take them off and throw them away.
End of problem.

I've run 285/75 tyres on 7x16 rims for years.

I would say simply dont bother! Leave it all as landrover intended and run it with permanent 4wd.
I've been running mine with permanent 4wd for years. You do not need to do anything to your front axle either, despite what people who havn't tried it will keep telling you.
You get a very small amount of kick back through the steering when its on full lock but thats all. The permanent 4wd makes the thing so much more sure footed on the road.

Just found this on another forum:-

Firstly I am sorry to have to say this but due to very high claim numbers on the 4x4 scheme our underwriters have decided to close the scheme down for new business.
This is nothing to do with any particular person or club it is just a widespread problem across the board.
Again sorry to let anyone down who was planning on giving us a try this year and as most of you know this affects my own vehicle as well.

He's right - it does come up adrian flux - maybe they are one and the same company after all!

Yes you can spray synthetic no problem.
Google it - its on Sparex's website. Keith Gott stocks it, and will probably mail order it to you if you cant find a more local supplier.
Jon

You'll be better off with the Sparex synthetic stuff that most parts suppliers stock. 2pack is nasty stuff, and is illegal to use in a residential area.

Havnt you got that running yet???? You've had another 4 days on it and all it looks like you've done is bolt a couple of hoses on!
Get on with it!!!! Petrol's gonna be £2 a litre by time you get that on the road......

I'm with fridge here - IMHO they have no place on a landrover. Took mine off and threw them away years ago.

Sounds like its a good job the Jehovahs Whitnesses werent about then eh?

Errr nigge, hating to throw a spanner in the works here, but why are you only machining pulleys now??? Surely you should have done all of this before hand and then had the whole, assembled bottom end dynamically balanced?
There is no way in hell now that it'll all be balanced! Shouldn't you now be pulling the bottom end out again for balancing?
