I have been busy today doing the same job, i had to cut 120mm x 205mm for the face but behind there i had to repair a similar size to the back of the cross member the side and bottom of it so basically all the box section really. Just needs a lick of paint but the rain has started
Edited to say. Notice the black cable taped up, this job started because i noticed the rusty bit while fixing the towing electrics where the repair is and yes the sockets are easy to set on fire
Memory Map has a technical forum on its web site which i have found usefull in the past maybe a quick look on their might help you www.memory-map.co.uk/board/
It takes my GPS a good 3-4 mins to warm up before it starts to find any satellites MM doesnt even know its got gps fitted for that time but then after 3-4 mins all starts to work fine try leaving it for a little bit dont expect it to be instantaneous
I have a spare qt guard you can foc its just gettin in my way it will only end up in my garage clearance, they only involve skips though as I have no patience to sell stuff on ebay, any how its in good nick and has all the bolts
I bought a pump that fits onto my drill got it from machine mart for £11 its a bit wild the first time I used it got oil every where but now its so easy just remember to keep the drill turned low
Well I bought one, Tried it out today welding 3 mm plate and was impressed for the money, I used to inspect welds for a firm exporting couplings to the petrochemical industry so have a idea what a good weld is
If you want a cheap hobby welder get one
If the rain holds of im going to repair and reinforce my rear cross member so I will post some pics
Well its amazing what can happen when you leave an awkward job and come back the next day with a fresh pair of eyes, the fuel tank all but jumped into place and bolted its self up!!! just got to put filler hoses and breather back on and bleed it up
And put some fuel in the tank mus remember that
Well managed to get the 90 stripped down tank out after work today< had to cut the filler breather pipe and grind of two bolts to the rear of the tank must have taken me 30 mins to get the right angle for the tank to "drop out". I had a quick go at re-fitting the new tank but gave up after 20 mins and went for food and beer will finish it tomorrow any tips for fitting greatly recived
I spend my working day on the motorway and im seeing loads more landrover and range rovers. even more 30 ish year old blokes in shirt and ties driving defenders
The tank is leaking, checked all hoses and were fine, filled up with derv added a little pressure from compressor and watched a little stream of diesel coming from the front of the tank, So drained it of below the hole nice little job for the weekend
Thanks Les, Michael, I now have a plan comming together,
1 lift seat box check hoses,
2check washer on bunk
3 remove sender unit using blow tourch for light look in tank
I have allready power washed it off
I will let you now the result tuesday evening
Rob
Yea makes sense also I will drop you a PM if i need a tank
It seems to have stopped leaking today so points to a hole in the tank above where the fuel is now? But i have only done 6 miles today??? I will have a fiddle with her tomorrow
OK just before i power washed my chassis off I noticed a puddle of diesel under the tank after having a nose about the guard was damp with a diesel smelling liqiid any ideas? I have half a tank so im going to either leak/use the remanding fuel before i do anything else, anybody been here before? do we think its a porous hose or rotten tank?
Rob
