  5. #Balls it doesnt make any noise wile clutch out / no power so possably able to be driven ? with out prop and diff lock ?
  6. Well on teh way home from frazerbough today about 10 miles from home i start to hear a realy loud squeeking noise when ever i apply power to the wheels. This caused me to pull over and check things out nothing realy looked bad but after that i couldnt go any faster than 30 mph without the noise becomign to bad stopping and starting from roundabouts was extremly hard almost stalling the engine at times . So do you guys think this is teh front diff or is there anything else i should look at tomorow ? Also i went under the land rover once i got home and teh front diff was extremly hot!!! Also if it is teh front diff can i say take the prop shaft of and ingage diff lock and be able to drive around for a week or is this a off road till new parts thing because this is my daily driver >.< Any help apreciated (P.S Sorry for spelling mistakes Spell checker isnt working on this comp)
  7. Yep i made the same mistake when i bought my landrover didnt know much turned out mine was a shed but rolled it so had to replace the rotten parts anyway so i kinda hit two birds with one stone. Now i have a respectable land rover once it gets painted
  8. This probaly wont help because its a clio but , When i first got my landrover a year ish ago the insurance on it was £1500 TPFF that was me at 19 first car no NCB Now a year has passed i'm 20 and i was looking around and the cheapest one i could find was £990 TPFF. But then i had a little idea to try van insurance and it came out that if i insured my land rover as a van it was going to put the insurance at £440 TPFF , But offcourse you cant make the clio a van other wise it going to be somthing around 1500 for insurance even if its a 400 pound car
  9. hummm might do this to my landrover soon would be much more handy to unlock all doors at the same time.
  10. Thanks for the help going to try them this weekend when I get home oo and its a new parkswitch sensor so? could it still be the problem ?
  11. Well well these dam wipers are giving me so much greif. First problem is that say I have had the wipers on for say 5 or more mins and I turn them off they stay on! and the only way to turn them off is to switch off the engine, Could this be the relay on the way out or the steering colom switch on the blink ? The second problem is that the wipers only cover say a 90 degree motion on the screen so I can either have the wiper arm set low so it dosnt get in the way when its not on and only travel so far and i cant see out of most of the window. Or i can have it so that its in the way on the screen but wipe all the bits that I need it to do. Anyone have any ideas on how to sort these out ? Because on all off my mates defenders the window wipers go all the way over! and turn off. O and I also need to change all the locks on the new doors I have so how do I go about taking out the old lock barrels and put in the new ones?
  12. Just a quick question here my wipers only seem to do a 90 degree turn on the windscreen but all the other land rovers i have seen go all the way over the screen is there any way to solve this mabe there is not enuff lube in the wiper motor? also it does make a nice racket while its on its a 99 td5 btw.
  13. Well its being done by a garage that a mate works in and the boss kinda likes me sooooo. but I still have some other things for them to sort first so it would have failed the mot if i had put it into the mot first
  14. Well its not the MOT at the momment just getting it looked over so i would have thought that wouldnt be allowed?
  15. Well dont know if this is the right place or not but I am in need of someone with a little bit of spare time and a car trailer that could possably take my landrover down to the garage that I am getting it looked at. If you live anywhere near the Inverness area in Scotland and would be up for it could you leave a message here or PM me please. Ofc there would be beer tokens for helpee Thanks keith
  16. I was in the same boat as you I finaly found a 1999 td5 90 van from. The insurance i got was £1500 TPFT for the first year then when it came to renewal it was down to £900 but then i started thinkign what about van insurance so i went on go compair and it turned out to be a LOT cheeper on van insurance i am now paying £400 TPFT whitch to me is quite cheep seeing as i am only 20 now. So if you were to get a hardtop then I would sagest going van insurance. Btw i got my land rover for £4000, but the bulkhead was rotten ( it was from shetland >.< ) and doors were pritty used and aboused but the chassis was fine. But then again the rotten parts didnt matter because i rolled it shorly after so all those parts got replace by my self. Most of the things on a td5 are easy to replace your self I had the thing right down to a rolling chassis and rebuilt it. Also most parts from earlyer land rovers fit on to the TD5 only a couple of things are different. So the only thing I would send it in to the garage for is engine or transmission problems you can do the rest your self. Also this forum has a lot of answer to problems you can fix and this place is a lot cheeper than a garage Also there may be a lot of wiring on the td5 but there not as bad as people say they are I am gettign on fine with mine now due to user mistake
  17. I think the one i bought was around 40-60 quid this was in very good condition off a written off land rvoer.
  18. omg that makes me wana do mine in black even more tipped the scales i think

  21. Hey I work in halfords and I ant no muppet well maby thats cos I work in the bikehut, part time offcourse since once I finnish doing my studies that jobs gone.
  22. Sweet thanks guys that work but one more problem the arms seem to stop a bit to early for my liking is this because I have them set to far down to begin with. I have them a little under horazontal in park should I angle them up a bit so it washes teh hole screen? or is there and adjustment needing done some where?
  23. or is there a possability i put the wheel boxxes in upside down just had a thought and that could be the problem. Hope not i dotn wana take the dash apart again "I made the mistake of refitting my wipers to wrong way around on my rebuild. The easiest way to sort it is to take the cover off the wiper motor box and move a small plastic block fitted on the large wheel that drives the wire to the wipers, 180 degrees this will make the arms move in the correct direction. Hope that makes sense (I'm having a bad day)" That may bee a good idea i will try this is this what sorted yours in the end ?
