  1. Sorry for being direct, but you can take the abuse!
  2. Do a search on L322 gearbox failures. They have about 300hp with a ZF24. If you still want an auto after this I can only conclude you are deranged. What clutch are you using? I would look at adapting an AP racing clutch or similar. Daan
  3. I try not to take offence here.

  5. No it is not. I don't meet ladies when welding. I must admit, the retirement you are talking about does not quite resonate with me. But that might change over time. Daan
  6. Fridge got my GPS receiver to work, without which I would probably still be in a swamp in Russia. And it Was Jez who inspired me to go there in the first place. Both guilty! Daan
  7. Hi Martin, and welcome to the forum. I cannot help directly, but a good start would be to obtain the wiring scheme matching the VIN of your base vehicle. Western (ralph) on here is pretty clued up on this kind of thing, as are others. I am sure he will be along shortly. In the mean time, we want pictures of your project! Daan
  8. With the current situation, I don't think anyone is going in or out of Russia for the foreseeable future. Daan
  9. Sorry fridge for beating you to it, but I saw it on Facebook and I thought I share... There is a justgiving page now: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/trucking-jez-ukraine?utm_id=1&utm_term=GKJqg5qjj&fbclid=IwAR1FSFjnzyWwq_fNlkov8KJeCee5xJ_RPAb5153s5WpNxn217N6wIljvhzE Daan
  10. Thanks, 3 supporters so far, including myself. Can the LR4x4 community do more? Daan
  11. I will be 67 in 2040, the year I could get state pension. So 18 years to go. Not sure how state pension will develop, or whether I will even get it. That said, people who do get state pension, tell me it is hardly worth waiting for. I don't see my job as a chore, so not a problem for me. Daan
  12. So, uncle Jez is about load up his 7 tonne truck with supplies and will shortly head of to Ukraine. He is short of Cash to buy supplies and keep the tank filled up and needs our help in the form of a financial donation. I think sending goods is a bit harder, he is now based in the Czech republic and leaving shortly. For those Who don't know Jez: he is a larger than life character, who went to do Ladoga several times and helped out many people along the way. I am sure others can vouch for him. As said, donations are very welcome. Please PM me and I will send you bank number and sort code if you wish to donate. Daan
  13. With the inflation rates as they are, Retirement might soon be a luxury for some people, sadly.
  14. Calling it off for this reason is allowed...But continue the build and the story! Daan

  16. Looks like you've got it all planned!
  17. First a comment to Nigel: Pornographic material is not allowed on this forum, I have reported you to the headmaster. The 300M shafts are in my opinion a bit pointless on a Land rover axle. I mean if you make the shafts unbreakable, the failure will occur somewhere else, in this case, the diff? The result of a broken diff is far more severe than a broken shaft; It could prevent you from finishing the stage, whereas a broken shaft only means you have 3 wheel drive, you finish the stage and fix the shaft in camp. 18. You can actually buy it off Jake wright: https://jakewright.com/upgrades/classic-land-rover-power-steering-conversion
  19. This video shows it can be done: I can't say I am too impressed with the concept, as the play in the steering box, relay and all the joints is still there. The execution is very nice though. Daan
