  1. Guys, my Disco is fitted with a 4.6 V8 from a P38. Previous owner who has done the conversion placed the ECU under the hood. I want to move the ECU to a safer place, ideally somewhere inside. Anyone knows where can I buy a cable extension? thanks, bob
  2. Good to know. WHat make is your gauge? cheers, bob
  3. Guys, Will be going for on offroad trip to Sicily, and do not fancy stopping for repairs, aslong as not breaking something while offroading, which might happen. I need to know items should I check (and what to look for) as prevention before going on an overland trip? For example, check shafts for twisted splines or brake pads for wear. What other things should I check? thanks, bob
  4. Both problems solved . Cleaned the idle control valve and noticed that the pipe with the yellow and green tape on it was cracked. I believe that pipe is used for vacuum. CHanged pipe and all fine. Thanks guys, bob
  5. Had a look into the manual and found out the idle control valve is the one circles in this pic Will remove tomorrow and give it a good clean with brake cleaner tks guys, bob
  6. Is it this thing circled in red? If so, with what do I clean it? thanks, bob
  7. I've got a Disco 1 fitted with a P38 4.6 V8 with an RPI chipped (Tornado) GEMS ecu. Problems started lately when starting up. It would need cranking more then once and need to help out with the gas pedal, where before it would start at first turn. Also, apart from that, idle in neutral when on the move is intermittent, ie hitting 500rpm, up to 1500rpm and back. ANy ideas what might be? thanks, bob
  8. My disco has a 2 inch body lift, 110 front springs and OME rear, which seem standard length. I run 35X11.50X16 Silverstone extreme tyres. Here's a picture.. Bob
  9. But I think the OME 763 and 764 will increase height by 2" right?
  10. No, rules say that total amount of lift, being body or suspension lift should not exceed 2". So, I'm tied with the body lift. But as you said, suspension lift won't cure the problem. Wheel is touching the inner arch, so I believe can't butcher any more. If I change springs to heavy duty type, will it help? If so, what rating should I look at. Saw the bearmach blue springs at standard height rated at 194 lbs (438mm) and yellow britpart rated at 285lbs (385mm height). the disco has all guards and steel bumpers. thanks, bob
  11. Hi all, Got this new beastie this week, huge improvement in the comfort/interior sector from my series 3 It's a Disco 300 van with a 4.6 V8, auto transmission and twin Arb lockers It runs 35/34 inch Silverstone extreme tyres and a 2 inch bodylift. Since I'll be competing in the standard class, rules state that a 2 inch lift is the maximum you can go, but right now, with a further 2 inch spacer on the rear the tyres are touching the arch under full articulation. What springs do you suggest since I have to remove the rear coil spacer? Will also try to modify the arches. bob
  12. Removed track rod from drop arm in order to have a better look and after some pulling down guess what......found a broken shaft. Off to print from tech archive..
  13. Hi guys, need some help... Yesterday while parking I heard a bang and suddenly no steering. Got down to investigate and noticed something very strange. Seemed like the droparm connection to steering box got loose and droparm still tightened to this nikel looking cylinder came out of the steering box (four bolt type). ANy ideas???? I'm baffled. Seems like I need to print out the 'How to change power steering box' Tech archive right? thanks, bob
  14. What about the 'Challenge winch' from Goodwinch? Seems a good deal, known for reliability and quite fast, especially with a Turbo power controller.
  15. Try to remove fuel line from filter and from lift pump and crack. see if diesel is coming
  16. Mine is an 88incher .....very good for trialing but will suffer in steep climbs and descents. If I had to re dot it, I would go for 100inch bob
  17. Re coolant temperature, I believe the normal running temp of a 300tdi is 95 deg celcius bob

  19. I do beleive in Avast. I use it on both at work, with over 200 PCs running Avast and at home and never had any problems....and best of all that it's one of the best AVs and free for home use.

  21. Can you post some pics of these Led inspection lights? I'm into wiring an interior lamp but still looking fo what's available in the market
  22. So, I followed your procedure, and out of 7 turns of the rear wheel, the front wheel turned approx 9 and a quarter turns. What does this mean? Bob
  23. I've checked both font and rear diff ratios. I jacked up the rear first. While turning both wheel and prop, there's nothing holding the wheel. It just turns freely. For every approx 3.5 turns of the prop, the wheel turns 1 revolution. Also, its the same in the front. So, diff ratios eliminated. Pls inspie me on what might be causing this problem. Tks, bob
