  1. I'm also liking the security bars over the rear side windows. Is there anything like that available here? Converting Rubles to Sterling reveals that the price is under £200 if I'm reading that right? I wonder how easy it is to purchase goods from Russia...
  2. The fact is there's lots of seats that can be made to fit. The big problem is that there are very few that have the low seat base of the standard defender, or defender specific seats. While this may not be a big problem for short - average height drivers, for guys that are 6' plus like myself it becomes a problem. I really like the Defender XS Premium seats but don't have the funds to stretch to that. Right now I'm looking at seats from smart car, RX8 or Discovery1. I'm erring towards RX8 cloth seats right now. I'd like to keep them LR but it looks as though the Discovery bases look to be twice as thick as the Defender ones..
  3. I know. Im having a time of it as well...
  4. Well found Mike. Thanks. Some interesting products. As well as the rear ladder i quite like the look of the security bars that go over the side windows. Rear winch bumper is interesting as well for those such endowed....
  5. DOH!!! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=e3nAdeAm00I
  6. Noticed this on the tube. Really like the rear ladder on it, however i dont have a clue where its from. It seems to have KDT or KBT written on it but after a quick search i couldnt find anything. Anyone got any idea who sells it?
  7. Depends what kind of finish your hoping to achieve. Mine didnt have 2 panels the same colour when i started. I flatted mine back a little then painted with Simoniz matt black acrylic. 1. Because i think it looks cool and 2. If it gets scratched (which any defender worth its salt will) its really easy to touch up and make look good again. Something that cant be said of gloss coats....
  8. Hammerite used to apply really well with no brush marks. However at some point they must have changed the formulation and it is absolute carp now. I wouldnt touch the stuff anymore..
  9. Good to know chaps. Just seems a fair bit of weight for a few little ali tabs to stop bouncing around..
  10. Just wondering how people have secured their stereo units into the Raptor console? My unit has the usual cage that the stereo itself then slides into. The problem i have with that idea is that that the full weight of the stereo is taken at the very front of the cage if that makes sense. There is a lot of scope for the stereo to move around, especially off road. I was wondering if anyone had found a way to secure the stereo at the rear somehow?
  11. Thanks Mo. One from LaSalle would be my ultimate aim eventually. As well as yourself there are many that highly recommend them. I was just hopeful that there might be a slightly more affordable alternative in the meantime. That being said even the standard headlinings seem to be a bit spendy if in decent condition so i may have to consider biting the bullet.. Cheers
  12. Thanks for the detailed reply. Only thing is i dont have any headlining at all to refurb. I will need to purchase one. Just looking for one with no Alpine windows..
  13. Apart from the very good but very expensive LaSalle, what are my options regarding 110 headlining? Baring in mind that i have a plain roof without Alpine windows. All the LR headlinings seem to have the Alpine windows.
  14. It appears that they have only recently started doing 4.75 for td5 rear axle. Last time i looked only a few weeks ago they only did 4.75 for salisbury rear
  15. Not a bad looking 110, but surely this belongs in here if only for the wheels... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-DEFENDER-110-LHD-LOTS-OF-EXTRAS-USED-IN-FEATURE-FILM-EXPORT-/231517771111?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item35e788d567
  16. Yep what Bowie says. I will be running 35's, and because i already have a freshly rebuilt transfer box i didnt want to mess with that. Therefore i will need to go 4.7 cw&p's. In short yeah, you went the wrong way. Big top speed though...........eventually
  17. I noticed when going to fit dash trim..Part 14 in diagram. That there are no holes in my bulkhead to accept the little plastic clips to hold it in place. I presume my bulkhead must be late td5 as i dont think they had this dash part. Anyway im going to have to drill some holes in bulkhead and use self tappers. Ive been using stainless fixings where i have been able to wrap with ptfe tape (to avoid galvanic corrosion) but obviously i cant use this on self tappers. So to try and avoid the self tappers corroding in place will i be better to just use normal mild steel screws?
  18. Hmmm thats got me thinking Mike. Like you i need all the legroom i can get in my HT so if i could make frames that go over that flange i wouldnt even need sliders. Would have the added bonus of meaning that those shorter of leg cant drive it! :-)
  19. I presume these were more or less bolt in? Would you recommend a smaller steering wheel to stop legs banging off them getting in and out? Im 6'2" ex rugby player so my thighs are..err..large
  20. I dont really think theres any reason the rubber ones should look untidy. Not unless they havent been fitted correctly, or maybe a poorly fitting pattern part?
  21. Yes they fit onto the lip round the hole for the vent.
  22. Just wondering what folk use to glue these on place to the bulkhead? Something like sikaflex etc?
