  2. Before i go into a long story, is anyone on here familiar with the mondeo TDCi? Phil
  3. Ok Ralph. Thanks for checking anyway..... Now where did i put those dolly's Phil
  4. tried to do a rough diagram for you but it wont let me attach .bmp files
  5. Sorry ralph. dont have a pic for you. They are on the inside of the upper side panels at the front. Rivetted. Sorry i cant be more specific just now. I'll try and get a pic 2moro. Phil
  6. As title. On the inside of defender (van) sidepanels there are rivetted brackets top and bottom at the front. I was looking to replace the bottom one as mine is bent out of shape. Ive looked at the defender parts book but cant see the bracket listed. Will i just have to remove / replace mine as best i can or is the part available? Phil
  7. The load bay of my 110 has all been primed using bonda - which is excellent stuff. Im wondering though what i should put on top of it to provide a tough, waterproof finish. None of it will be seen as the wheel covers will be soundproofed/chequerplated, and the floor will be covered in 18mm stable matting. Hammerite doesnt seem to like the bonda much for some reason, and im not sure if POR-15 would like the smooth bonda so what would you guys recommend? Phil
  8. I'll be using A4 stainless nuts/bolts so corrosion will not be a problem. Ive also discovered that you can stop the galvanic corrosion between the stainless bolts and the ally body by using plenty ptfe tape round the bolt where it goes through the body.
  9. It helped a lot mate. Also good info for when i get round to soundproofing the rest of it Phil
  10. Excellent explanation Ralph. Thanks very much. Im also glad you told me about the soundproofing being more effective if its not compressed - now it makes sense to not squeeze it down tight with the bolts. Phil
  11. I see.... I think. So where would these spacers go. At each corner of the chequerplate? And what size spacers - 5mm or so? Phil
  12. Thanks guys! A good difference of opinions there! Im leaning towards the countersunk bolts / nuts option. Oh and the finished article wont look like the himalayas as there is chequerplate going on top of the soundproofing Phil
  13. Hi bud. Long time no hear. Hows things? I'll have a look at what wide head rivets i can use. Phil
  14. Im intending to line my 110 rear wheel arches with 10mm soundproofing material, then fit chequerplate covers on top. Will i better fixing the covers with countersunk 4mm allen bolts or long rivets? I have no preference of fixing, its just that given the thickness of the chequerplate and the soundproofing material, its gonna take quite a long rivet? Im not even sure if you would get a rivet long enough anyway tbh? Thoughts. Phil
  15. ^^^As Fridge says^^^ The stuff is awesome. Toughest paint i have EVER used. Its real shiny and will show up every blemish but just put a coat of matt over it if that bothers you. There is no finer paint. For gawds sake wear gloves.... it will take weeks to wear off your skin!
  16. Thanks guys for your fast replies - all is cleared up now.
  17. Im looking for a tool that is regularly used in the aircraft industry (maybe panel-beating as well?). I have no idea what its called. Its used for closing 2 panels together when rivetting the panels together. Aparently it is inserted into the hole of the 2 panels and you can screw them together so that there is no gap between the panels when you rivet them. Does that make sense? I dont know how to describe it better. Can someone help me as to what this gadget is called, and maybe where i could get one? Thanks Phil
  18. Its time for a revolution...... This country is too full of corporation-obeying, law abiding, gutless pussies though...... Shame.
  19. Does anyone know where you can but 1-piece chequerplate wheelbox covers for a 110 3-door? Thanks Phil
  20. To be honest i wasnt asking if it was a good idea or not. Just wanted to know if anyone knew where to get them. jeez. Phil
  21. Three points.... 1. Stupidist is not a word 2. Water cans are the same size as fuel cans, so maybe, just maybe im not thinking of storing fuel there 3. If you store the same on each side it wouldnt be unbalanced would it
  22. As title. Just wondering who sells the type of jerry-can holder shown in the attached pic? Phil
  23. Tried that already fridge. No joy. Way too tight in there for that...
