  1. they will fill up with water and they do have a message on them saying very important mount this end down but suppose you could try
  2. my old range rover used to heat up very quickly whilst off roading ie without the speed of traviling along blowing air on the rad without the 2 electric fans working the viscous fan was not enough on its own might be part of your problem
  3. i know its probably been asked before but i am considering changing the 2.5 for a 200tdi as it will couple straight to my lt77 gear box and are reasonably however as i use the land rover on the motor way to get to events i am wondering how the top end speed will be improved by just changing the engine as at the mo anything over 55 is a bit hairy and very loud and sounds like the engine may fly out from the bonnet at any time .also as the 200tdi is only really a upgraded version of my current engine is it worth it or is the 300tdi and matching gearbox a better option although much more expensive any help much appriciated
  4. hammered a screwdriver through one whilst doing a friends too bit messy though and quiet difficult as the punch hole gets bigger so you have to hope the nut gets looser or to much movement occours
  5. hold the shock with pipe grips or stealsons (pipe spanners) then undo the nut rather primative but it worked on mine also wire brush really well first and spray with wd40 or similar
  6. the battery does have to be tip top to turn these old girls over i struggled with mine untill i put the booster on

  9. when fitting new shocks dont be a dick head like me and remove the wire keeping the shocks compressed leave them on till you have got the retaining nut on the top and the spring inplace then align ready to go and cut simples
  10. i have a 2.5 turbo diesel 90 with the usuall traits but the one i need help with is every time i drive her she seems to push oil into the air filter housing which then drips out causing the missus much anger over her drive .Not entirely sure if its engine oil or dirty unburnt fuel any help much appriciated
  11. sounds like we should start a smokey starters club mine is the same think its just age no one seems to have a specific fix for this as i think it can be any one of many things never mind it upsets the eco warriors anyway
  12. recently enquired at the local landy breaker there quoting £250 each i even found a dented but solid pair and they were £150 each so bloody expensive
  13. kenetics are banned from some play sites and many people think there unsafe which i tend to agree with
  14. try the paint man not local as he is in wolverhampton but he does post and the paint is brill

  16. call me a fart but still none the wiser spoke to a few people at foxham and got a mixed response is anyone out there runnin a 3 inch lift kit on standard correction and shafts
  17. mmm not sure really was the same price so went for the biggest guess its a bloke thing
  18. just got a 3 inch lift kit with 2 inch plus shocks for my defender now i am told i will need extended brake hoses and correction arms or my drive shafts will go for a pass time is this true as i am a bit Mildly miffed off i was not told this buy the supplier although i did not ask either we probably wont be going to extrems but still dont want to be towed back from every pay and play day any help gratefully received
  19. having just lifted the defender 2" and looking for some new tyres i was wondering the largest tyre i could fit on it without the extra expence of spacers for that extra diff clearence also wondering which tyres and generall size and performance please .there mostley used off road so muds are my main choice all help gratfully recieved
  20. having been totaly shocked at prices of second hand doors for my series and defender i am wondering if anyone knows of a repair kit for the framework of these doors as the rest is salvagable failing that where could i get the raw steel to fabricate and weld some new ones cheers
  21. can anyone please advise me on the rules for carrying passsengers in the back of my 90 van it has benches over the mud guards but no saftey belts is there an age limit or any particular rules thanks for any help given

  23. still restoring the series 111 and whilst visiting various scrap yards for bits have noticed some have door trim well lose streached pvc and some dont mine is 1975 and wonder if the trims on mine are factory fitted or just an owner mod like the cord carpet glued everyware else want to try to get her as close to she was when leaving the brummies as possible many thanks
  24. thanks guys on closer inspection it was just corrosion spots which had been agravated by the off roading and were seeping good lashing of chemical metal has cured it thanks again
