  1. Thats good to know . Its a bit tongue in cheek really.... engine was rebuilt before my ownership and the bores tweaked.
  2. I was just expecting a lot less as the axle has only been together for about ~350 miles!
  3. I also feel sorry for your mate, but there has got to be something more fishy going on than just a chassis change! The mentioning of the words Defender and tax exempt in the same paragraph should show something....
  4. Changed the front axle oil for the first time since the rebuild, so also the first time with the new X-Eng diff plug. How much is a normal amount of metal bits to be attached to the magnet? There was quite a bit more than I was expecting? really wish I had taken a picture now. Other question, which is the best place to have the magnetic plug? I did have it on the filler hole, but on reassembly yesterday I put it in the drain hole. I think the eventual plan would be to have one in both....
  5. Is that not the military Jeep version? If LR can pull off a similar update to the defender then they will be onto a winner I think
  6. I haven't sorry. But, JasonG4110 has just bought a pair for his 110.
  7. These: http://mattsavage.co.uk/acatalog/copy_of_Coil_Springs.html They fit inside the spring and are inflated when you need a bit more carrying capacity
  8. Have you thought about some helper air bags? Or go for the slightly heavier duty springs and then add the air bags when heavily loaded?
  9. I think that once Q plated, you cannot have a private plate on it.
  10. Well I would have been there but my truck is broken after the wales trip. It is probably true to say that cost of fuel etc is going to be a factor keeping some away
  11. Oxford uni.... just shows they have far far too much money!
  12. Sounds like what I do when in the 90 after a day driving one of the work vans... put my foot down and get a funny noise. Then realise I'm back in the 90!
  13. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-oxfordshire-15214477 Being developed by a team in Oxford
  14. IMHO, for top ones to work with lots of travel they need to either be the gwyn lewis style that actually catches the spring or offset so the cone point is inline with the outer edge of the spring. I had the cone type on the rear and lost a spring at 7S when it went off the end of the cone and didn't relocate.
  15. I don't have any dimensions to hand, but they should be pretty easy to get the size right. One pointer, I would make them so that the cone is on the axle end and the spring is retained at the chassis. Will locate the spring more reliably .
  16. Sounds to me that you're just working the engine a bit hard from the low revs. Does it stop the noise if you lessen the throttle?
  17. And they will be when you've done a good job
  18. Something I would think about doing would be fitting stainless pistons... If you aren't in a hurry and can spare the time, I would rebuild the current calipers with stainless steel pistons new seals etc.
  19. Jason, I think it was undercover hoods that you spoke too at Billing?
  20. Yeah, try the other thread. And this bloke is in charge of the finances
  21. Mine did too, but as I was fitting on the front they would have been a right PITFA to get off again. the rear ones would be OK though .
  22. Can we have a size reference... like a Rover dizzy? I was slightly worried as to the contents of the thread when I opened it!!
