  1. Does anyone know the part no for the throttle lever assembly that bolts to the top of the fuel pump on a 300 tdi. The lever has 4 holes in a row at one end and bolts to the throttle lever at the other end. This lever is what operates the kick down. Cheers Rob.
  2. Although the engine will rev slightly higher it dosenty mean it will burn that much more fuel, the load on the engine will be reduced in the same proportion as the incre3ase in engine speed. The fuel comsumption change will depend more on your driving style having that new slightly lower gearing.
  3. looked at a 300 auto last night there is 50mm movement in the cick down cable from off throttle to full throttle. the kick down cable has 4 positions allowing the cable to be mounted between (approx) 70mm and 90mm from the pivot point of the throttle lever. the throttle lever is (approx) 55mm from the pivot point on the fuel pump.
  4. I am about to make up some brackets to mount my kick down cable. Has anyone got any pictures of how they fitted theirs to their diesel engine? Even better can anyone remember how it is fitted on a izusu conversion? I am contimplating making a bracket/lever that will enable me to alter the tenion on the cick down cable whilst I am on the move, The plan is that I can then chose weather the cick down occours or not, should allow me to have more throttle(poss power) in each gear. Has anyone done the above modification? Can anyone tell me why this would not be a good idea?
  5. Out of interest I have noticed just over 100 people have now voted. Scanning down the list of top posters (my assistant/top 10 posters,page10), when you get to look at the post count for the 100th top poster they are down to 60ish posts. got myself confuddled as to why this might be relevent now Damn red wine!
  6. Do we have any come back If somebody does re-produce details from the forum? Will we be missing out if other forums are advertised/credited in magasines and this one is not? I seem to think that word of mouth is getting stronger by the day. This thread although possibly pointles certanly has got some very constructive and debate encouraging coments. For what it is worth I was directed here first before voting.(cheers Fi) I intend on voting no, this could be swayed if the poll was re-worded.
  7. To get things started I have 2 lines :- Catflap one I didn't know. Catflap II I've watched him Grow,
  8. keep a look out for potential radiator hose pipe posibilities. Possibly an electric fan. I made the izusu throttle cable fit, but I seen it done with a RR throtle cable. Now would be a good time for a cam belt change if your engine has a cam belt.
  9. Just keep a spare pice of round bar (the size of a 1/2" drive tee bar) fit it between the coils of your springs and through your Gwyn lewis dislocation/relocators and as you jack up the spring via bottom spring clamp will lift up the axle. You can end up holding the wheel higher up than jacking a std 90. Your bottom spring clamp needs to be in good condition too.
  10. The plan with the shifter low and the shape of the console is that I can slide over it if I need to get out of the passenger side, or if the passenger needs to get out oof the driver's side for any reason. I have needed to slide from one side to the other several times during challenge tupe events in the past
  11. Come on les I thought you had great plans for improving the leg room in your vehicle. Can you pm me your address I think I have lost it. I have a brass?bronse?thingy that fitts into the front stub shaft here that i want to post to you. Do you want the oil seal that fitts next to it as well?
  12. Lunch time today I had this:- And this evening I have this:- The idea is that I will have something to support the gear lever display thing, and have created a large cubby box with two small cubby holes either side of the gear lever. I am no good with wood (unless it means pulling trees down) so I have made my center console out of mild steel.
  13. All you lot sticking your mags in the bin. Before they went that way. Did you see if wether there was a picture of my truck in it this month? I think there might have been something from the last awdc winch challenge?
  14. I am going was told I couldnt wear jeans so by the boss's instructions have been to tesco's and bought a £30 suit
  15. I shall give them to Fi at the week end ok.
  16. I have got a set of old rear springs you could have if you just want to lift the front a little, problem is not sure if you want to make the suspension any stiffer? Are you planning on replacing the springs yourself? I recomend you buy a pair of shock turret retainming rings, not sure if that is ther propper name for them, they are the rings with 4 studs pointing up that go through the spring mount and hold the turret on. I always tend to break off some of these studs when I take turrets off. Spray the bottom shock mounting with loads of wd40 for a few days before you plan on doing the job. With the shock removed you dont have to jack the front up very high to remove the spring.
  17. had a look at my auto box this eve and the last three digits on the row of nos in the second row are:- 742 Hope this makes sense
  18. ok then how about a month without fixing other people's vehicles.
  19. looks like there is agrowing list oif people who would like to go to iceland, me included. Doubt I will do that this year though I would like to go through one whole month without having to fix my vehicles this year.
  20. On nisan and misibushi diesel engines there is a temperature sensor fitted to the intercooler and an electric fan mounted behind the intercooler. I guess when the intercooler goes above a certain temp the fan kicks in.
  21. I intend on using this spud shaft into use as a temporary (fix) but I can see that I should get the replacement shaft with longer splines. I have not had reason to remove the end cover from my transfer box, I presume that I can remove the transfer input gear on my crawler box in the same way as I could with a conventional box, A question for dave me thinks.
  22. July 29-30th suits me better too. By the way I want to come
  23. thought I would bring these dates back up higher in the postings
  24. Just noticed this post:- Catflap Intercooler And I wondered have you checked that the center of the pop rivets are air tight. I have had problems in the past with so called blind rivets not being blind. have you had chance to pressurise the intercooler yet? I guess it should be tested to about 1bar 14.7 psi.
  25. How much have I weakened this shaft by doing this as a temperary fix to get round a problem I had yesterday?
