JJ cant quite remember where , but there was a link to a site of some one who had stripped an 8274 down and taken pic at every step with a write up , quite help full , would imagine after 15 years all it needs is a clean some new oil and brake pads (why not fit uprated ones )
  5. i stripped mine down and bead blasted it , then lackered it first time round , dont think i used enougth lacker as it started to get the tell tale white spots , so i bead blasted it again and had it powder coated B)
  6. try these guys www.cbf.co.uk i went through a local comercial body builders to get mine and this is the company they use
  7. not quite a ground anchour, but we used one of jims ''stump hooks'' at the baskervillie challenge , and was a bit sceptical at first but once we had used it once i was hooked it worked so well , we used a ground anchour in a similar situation on the tay challenge and turned the blade inside out and bent the frame back

  22. i use 4 axel stands (rated at 6tonnes each ) as long as correctly positioned they are very safe , ive no problems working on a vehicle on axel stands , much much safer that a hydralic jack
  23. i co drive for Alan kemp , who has a centre winch fitted , and it really is use full , for side slopes as mentioned , pulling the vehicle over to a punch and clearing trees , at the Tay challange this year it was a real benifit having the centre winch , saved us some time on certain stages also comes in handy for any maintainance or tyre changes required
  24. jim had a very neat motor support on his rear winch up in the tay challange , all very nicely tig welded to the end plate on the drum , well i think it was you wasnt it jim ?
  25. where you there mate this event was well organised and EVERY section was marshled (by more than one marshel) as far as i could see on all the sections we completed there where NO tracks out side of the taped areas . appoligies if you were being sarcastic (smilies needed if so) but posts like yours are not really needed when so much hard work has been put in to these events , if your post refurs to another recent comp ''op north'' then no cheating was done there either , just the way the rules where interprited
