  2. Alan im sure i can lend assistance and know of a few others that would help me with a north wales event
  3. not long got back , (one of the ones that left early ) had chance to see how all the others do it (and don't ) what a nice little site west harptree is , very technical sections well laied out , and witnessed the marshals taking rope infringements seriously and issuing penalty's .
  4. ive voted ''not needed'' ive been around loads of synthetic rope breakages , stood very close and touching them , there is very minimul recoil in the rope but because of its low weight poses no real threat apart from maybe a bruse completly agree with the other comments , regarding winch blankets beeing swollowed up by fair leads , and the danger of removing them (any one thats done it will know what i mean) i say get rid of them , we spent loads of time repositining sails in tay and putting them back on when the rope comes taught and throws them off . should still be conpulsory on board equiptment mind , for rope protection and the track crossing as mentioned allready
  5. if me and Alan get 5 cyberkeys less than you we be having a godd day the rocket booster on chris's car are they MSA approverd ? p.s did you get that alternator sorted if not bring it with you will get it refurbed over here Dafydd
  6. hi have test drove a TD5 comercial disco to day , first time ive driven a TD5 but till it came on boost felt very flat where as my 300tdi defender just goes from the word go , is this normal for the TD5 its a 53 reg with 100K on the clook and full landrover service history . this vehicle is intended as a tow vehicle , towing aprox 2.5 ton load and a bit concerend with lack of go before boost also is there any thing other than normall corrosin areas to look out for cheers Dafydd
  7. im with white 90 , yove got the right idea may just need bigger pullers to grip on the rear disc , if its still tight pop it out of the caseing like will explaned (with out use of a hammer ) and place in a press if you have accses to one , sure you must be matey with some one who does or knows some one that may have accses to one
  8. i went to my tyre man last week for sum new boots for the car , he said they gone up 30% in last few months and going up weekly , hardly suprisend as there 2 main raw ingredients are oil and steel
  9. just got home and what can i say , AMAZING WEEKEND loved every minute of it , massive thanks to simon for helping me out over the week end and thanks to Alan and Chris for there faultless driving , and a big thank you to andy and his team for setting out such eveil sections , we loved each and every one we entered for there mix of technical and fast bits . cheers to the guys who let us through ,really was appreciated hope we thanked you all at the time ROLL ON NEXT YEAR Dafydd(Alan k's battered and brused but very happy co-driver)
  10. replaced my front diff a few weeks ago using this method , just i used 4 axel stands and took the wheels off before starting the strip down , made it a bit more ''airy'' round the hub
  11. wires dont need to be big 1mm as all they do is switch the contactor , yes it is possable to still use your remote, just need to either join the wires together or run a set from each switch /remote to the solinoid/contactor on my truck i run 3 switches on bothe the fron and rear winch , in cab in cubby box , switch on body work front and rear (by winch) and a warn plug on front and rear to plug in wander lead
  12. where you get that from rob ? i bought sum a few months ago from CPL in wrx and it cost me nearer £65
  13. ah my mistake alan/boothy , i got mixed up we did really really bad on ss1 (the water one) as we kind of misunderstood the rules some what and went at it completly the wrong way was ss2 we done well on , recon we could have gone faster had we tryed too Dafydd
  14. boothy went thru after you , and beat your time , and we went thru after boothy and the marshel said we had beaten him ? but i havent seen the results and dont think we did it under 3 mins
  15. same as the others thanks for a great day out , really liked the format , we just ploded along all day so was a big suprise to come 4th and a fastest special stage 1 looks like i may have lost my regular seat though
  16. [quote name='zimsoundz' date='Jul 15 2008, 10:21 AM' post='288 The gearbox (LT77 / R380) and transfer boxes are on banjo bolts, but just out of interest what thread are they as well ? And finally what is the normal size to drill and tap the Warn 8274's to install a breather on them ? Thanks Gordon as far as i know the axels are 1/8bsp , as are the gearbox transfer are the same , and ive done my 8274 the same , all using 6mm nylon pipe , that way you allways have spare on the truck you can rob for other parts (my ARB,s are the same)
  17. what an ace weekend and not a bad result for us with 4th place B) was quite hard work at time but enjoyable all the same (apart from now having slight wiplash ) ready to do it all again now

  20. hi ole was the same last year its to stop the land either side of the forest roads and the forest roads from beeing wrecked , generally the entrance exit points are easy and could acctally be driven slowly , with out any risk of wheel spinning and churning the ground up
  21. i went to help paul mc , pick up some simcas , my GOD they are heavey , portal bokes really stick out (possably catcing on rocks ) and did i mention the weight
  22. the front panel with the head lamp mount is one piece (spot welded together ) and i would paint it off the vehicle , if the wing has not been off before i would get some new bolts and capltive nuts for the bulk head and pop to landrover for some new plastic rivits for the wheel arch spat (usally loose the inner pin when knocking them out )
  23. its all gone now but maybe some more tonight
  24. it did this morning nearly 6", the traffic on my road was stuck all over the place , did attempt to help some guys in a new merc but they couldnd find the towing eye as there where to many golf clubs in the boot so left them there
