  1. I have bought a winch to be fixed on my TD5110 99 mod (HAs not arrived yet.. but started getting nervy..)... I am wondering what the difficulty is to get this on the bumper.. Bumber looks like this http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll194/d...nchguard001.jpg anyone been into this? Complexity?
  2. Hey,,, there were no pictures...... Am I getting blind?
  3. I got so ( keeping my mouth in control) ....... That I had to glue it to stop the popping... Kindly send us a pic on how you got this new saviour into place.... Sometimes I wonder why LR chooses poor and cheap stuffs on certain areas... To save money I guess.....
  4. I had a similar problem with a wheel bearing and it went more like... kting ktong kting ktong.... Whenever it reached the broken part of the little metal pellet it fell in.. Was there any shakey movement when you drove off?.... I will tip the wheel bearing... There are better suggestions than this.. Hope you solve it!! Good Luck
  5. It is one of the easiest.... I have done it over 6 times for friends... But then it was not a td5 110 99 model... But with that training the Defender was like ABC.. And the best thing is that the car drives smoothly.... http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll194/d...gsandPAS005.jpg
  6. Bogmaster describes the task like an ABC job.... ....Too many easy descriptions here Bmaster.... Even Les Says it simply returns to leaking like wild honey even when seals are changed... In my case a little ring seal solved the whole problem.. But I still bought a new BOX.. To avoid going into that hole once again... The old one is a reserve or if I get too broke I might sell it.. Good Luck g90....
  7. I bought mine from LR series dot com.... or DSL.... in Derbyshire.....Best to change the whole set.. I did mine the very first month I bought the car... THis was because there was a metal to metal clash anytime I closed the door... Blaaang.. Blaaang...
  8. Mine broke 2 naggers..... ... and even a pitbull puller.... wha abaou tha!!!!!
  9. Dear g90... I do agree perfectly well... This is a world of uncertainties and imbalances and unfairness,,,,,, I cried and wept woefully when I bought the PAS.. I borrowed cash from friends... and drank loads of soups.. WAter.. and cheap bread for sale... God save us all... http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll194/d...rDropArm036.jpg Old PAS..
  10. And les i forget.. don't try removing the drop arm..... I know what I am talking about.... I have a thread here on that subject.. Removal of drop arm= Whacking the breath out of the PAS Which leads to => more leakages and seals destruction... And Allignment problems => further to readjusting which breaks the locktight on the bolt on top of PAS( I will repeat this) which leads to => destruction of seals on the alignment bolt on top of PAS and even more leakages... => leads to buying a new one.. how many months..... 2 months... I wish I could swear now.. But I must still behave....
  11. I had a similar leakage on mine for some months ago. Gosh how I leaked.!!!! I guess the purpose was to MARK my territory.. B) ... In the driveway,,, at work... at a friend's house.. in the neigbour's driveway and in the streets... At the shopping mall... . Well Honestly.. I would buy a new one.. adwest.. I got mine to Norway to about £240... Nike....Just do it...Les has s thread somewhere here where he said it is possible to change the seals but it is a shortlived project... http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll194/d...Defender005.jpg http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll194/d...gsandPAS001.jpg This is it.........
  12. These infos can be misleading to our newbies who might place a search for Gaskets and guess what might come up,,, First search... Corn flakes Gasket... Second search.... Quaker Oats hard cover Gasket Third search....Frosties Box Gaskets.... hmmm I simply hope no one gets misleaded into cutting some Wheetabiz cardboard as a gasket...
  13. And not only the weight on the wallet but the weight of the DEfender 110...I once filled almost a £70 full tank petrol in my diesel tank... Real Wacko.. did not know what I was thinking about at that moment... When I called for help and this truck came to winch me up from a tight corner which demanded pushing and pulling and hauling before the winching, I tasted the real weight of the Devil... Just never budged to any push....
  14. She has given up... On the other hand the babes love The Defender.. That I have to admit.. .. Letsgetdirty... sure all is well..
  15. Isn't it normal that the small guys drive the big cars..? Normally the macho guys go for Harleys... you would be surprised to see a real big guy in a little Yaris,,, "Help.." I would cry.
  16. Do not mean to capture this thread but I am wondering if anyone knows if a Warn xd9000i can fit into this 10x 4,5 inches bolt position Winch Guard.... Or are all the winches standard to fit the guards?. I feel mine looks like and old model since I do not have the 2 holes for jerking the car at the front position. http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll194/d...nchguard001.jpg http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll194/d...nchguard002.jpg http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll194/d...nchguard003.jpg All contributions are cordially welcomed.... The Links again http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll194/d...nchguard001.jpg http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll194/d...nchguard002.jpg http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll194/d...nchguard003.jpg
  17. I would not actually call this car a sexy car but I read this somewhere. I am writing this more because I notice the look from other men when I go shopping. "A young guy in a defender?" they ask themselves.. " YEah I am a home made mechanic and do all at home.." I tell myself reassuringly... The nissan guys look very angry The Datsun guy .. he smiled.... Outmoded cars are also classified as old timers so I gave him a little smile... The Subaru fellows ingnore turning to your direction The Kia driver the other day kept his looks at my direction but had his glasses on and behaved like he was watching the seagulls up above And the Tahoe driver showed a little smile.. faily accepted.. The BMW guy wasn't very happy.. I guess he changed his mind and drove off to another center to shop .. Anyone been into this??
  18. Changed tank once and there was aproximately 9 litres in the Tank and it was on red.. How did I know that?.. I emptied them in a Coca-cola 1.5 liter bottles..( This is how I improvise things in my garage) I even got petrol in bottles in there.... Dainger (Danger in the Aussie dialect).. The worse is to get stuck on a highway..My Diesel is always filled to the brim..... Take no chances!!
  19. In the USA.. the population is 300 million... Sell just a million and you got aproximately 4-5 million Dollars $... Bling Bling....bling.... Someone will definitely fall a culprit to these bogous items.... aintme!!
  20. Nice Little Thing..... ( That car was something to die for... )
  21. maybe like this one?... I am very satisfied with it. It took me the night with good music and some biiiers (beer) ... Need perfect calculations to avoid bullet shots in the tailgate...
  22. I will check most of the below--- 1)Track Rod Ends- 2)Lower Steering Joints 3) Drop Arm Ball Joint 4)Swivel Housing Bearing 5)Steering Damper ?????? All these could have a play in it. This will test your patience but cumbersome and irritating if you have just one care at home Good luck.. I had a similar problem and the culprit was the Drop Arm plus Steering damper.....
  23. This is one of the "gdonamded" (can be rearranged to get it's true meaning) reason I am getting all the knowledge on my car and planning for the next 70 years to do any basic service or advanced service on my car... all by meself!!!. And yeah after that all info is my so called "private property" ... If you ask me, dem guys have used something phoney and aren't willing to bear the next cost on the house...Sometimes the fierce looks help but I guess your looks are just too tame.... Get a Torpedo on them!!!
