  2. aren't jap engines bleedin expensive for bits though.... such as starters and alternaters?
  3. does anyone run a GMC diesel 6.2 engine? my 2.5 N/A has finally died and i need a replacement and this is one of my choices. i know they have a reputation for destroying gear boxes etc but what are thet really like? and where to get one as Samurai's website seems to have disapeared.
  4. gwyn lewis in Welshpool sells cranked trailing arms, heavy duty etc........ cant remember how much though because i bought a complete suspension set up from him..... including new front and rear shock mounts, extra long OME shocks and wide angel props. will put up some piccies when photobucket lets me. havent tried the suspension out yet as the engine has gone to the great scrapyard in the sky.
  5. sorry i cant confirm any sizes.... my hand brake was a nightmare so i fitted a disc conversion.... www.x-eng.co.uk since then i havent had to touch it.
  6. i use an optima blue top.... extra trerminals for the winches and ive never had a problem. and cheap...... the company i work for owns optima
  7. they probably buy optimas cos they are better.......i had had 2 exide maxximas fail in 6 months...... and never found out why, they got sent back but i never heard anything from exide. ive had a blue top optima for years and ive never had to touch it.
  8. ive got a 2.5n/a diesel in my 90 at the moment with 136,000 on the clock. a brief history of the last month.... over heated on the motorway when the water pump bearing gave up... it got hot but i pull over and got it recovered. changed the oil in it and have done a few small trips since and everything seemed fine. on thursday i jumped in and tried to start the engine but the engine wouldn't turn over.... the starter was working fine but ther was a strange metalic bang when i tried to start it. tried it half a dozen times and then the engine turned over very slowly but managed to fire up....... i thought the battery was low. drove 15 miles pulled in to park up and as it was on tick over it sounded very lumpy. turned off the engine and lifted the bonnet and was greeted by oil everywhere coming from under the rocker cover...... not just a little leak but puddles of it coming from both sides of the rocker gasket. this was a new gasket a month ago and hasn't leaked before......so is something in the engine dead? been away the last couple of days so ive not been out to try it or investigate. but any ideas???........... probably a new engine. cheers
  9. mine a 12j n/a and mines on 35's.....very rarely use 5th gear now cos it it kills it but it'll sit all day at 60 in 4th gear.
  10. im running on 35-12.5-15 tyres.......and i love em. mines the red one..... its got 2" of lift and no body work has been cut. they do catch on the radius arms though on full lock and just catch the plastic arches on articulation... but i am fitting some extreme suspension at the moment so some bits may trimming soon. the only down side for me is that my 90 is a N/A so 5th gear is out of the question.
  11. all sorted now ish......went to Gwyn Lewis in welshpool today..... i spent moere than i ment too. oh well... now to fit it all.
  12. right then off to buy some bits 2morrow. shock turrets -2" lower rear shock mounts and cranked rear trailing arms wide yoke props ive already got. new front radius arms longer brake lines polybushes gonna have a good day fitting all this but should i also get bigger bumps stops.....are they nessesary? suppose with whats already been spent they wont make much difference on the wallet
  13. why is the LRE forums disapearing?..........dark forces at work?
