  1. Hi guys, im looking for some advice on finding a heavy duty rad. I want something i can jet wash without fear of damaging it. I took my old rad to a local radiator place to ask about re-coring it with a anti-clog core, but it was going to reduce the cooling efficiency to much. so any ideas? for 300tdi
  2. well after days of trying wires here and there, it turned out to be a dodgy connection from the battery to the isolator, put jump leads on the other side of the isolator to the battery and it started, DOH! feel abit stupid not trying that afew days ago lol. cheers for all the advice though
  3. Cheers. Have only checked the voltage, have no other way to check them? its the constand noise, stays for as long as the keys held, not just 1 click that has me worried. never heard it before. hoping its a connection or battery and not the ring gear
  4. Hi guys, hoping someone can help. tried to start the car today (200tdi disco) and it wouldnt go, the starter was making a loud strange constant clicking noise, tapping it had no effect. It bumps and drives fine. Picked a new starter upto today, just fitted it, and the same strange clicking noise with this one aswell. Bench tested the old starter and it seems to be working normally, like it should. got full chanrge on battery and alt charging fine, so should have plenty power. but its got me stumped
  5. Have a go at a devon style one? http://www.offroadfabnet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=291
  6. well cheers guys, retest tomorrow, so i will ask him if he will test it another way, if not i will go elsewhere.
  7. I had mine in for its mot on tuesday, got to the brake test, so the guy jumped in with me driving, with his tester. Did the brake test fine and then he asked me to drive upto 15mph and pull the handbrake on! that didnt sound to clever to me, it failed anyway and is in for a retest tomorrow. does anyone think that handbrake test sounds abit dodgy or is it normal? /i dread to think what they do to our cars when we arnt there to watch them.
  8. I think a handicap system could work, to keep the 2 classes. So the guy with the standard car with 1 winch, get's full points on punches. where as the guy with the lockers, 10 winches and portals doesnt.
  9. i had a cut down waffle board on mine. Bolted on 2 bits of angle to the set box sides, the board just slid down between the lip and angle.
  10. I dont mind abit of advertising. I borrowed a black arb one, and that was really nice. but cant seem to find them for sale.
  11. I'm looking to find a good looking winch blanket. All i seem to be able to find is yellow shiney pvc ones, with stuff like "devon off road team" now i'm not in the devon off road team, so they dont really float my boat. any ideas? i did a search, but most topics seem to be afew year old now.
  12. I use one of these. It's got the wrong thread for the disco engine, but just screw it in anyway, never leaked yet. http://www.rsmmotorsport.co.uk/products/productdetail.aspx?pid=516
  13. I use a claw hammer, hook it under the seal and yank away .
  14. As far as im aware you do not need a reverse light for the MOT, so just tape it up. I dont have any on mine, and it passed fine.
  15. Mines like that bishbosh. It's like a tug of war. My freespool lever doesnt click in either unless you pull the rope to move the drum. i'm putting it down to my home made mount being sligtly out, but have yet to try it on the back, witch has a bought winch mount.
  16. It would be nice mate, maybe one day. We've only just started doing the cheviot4x4 winch challenge series, our second event.
  17. Cheers for all the idea's. i ended up mounting it between the seats on the bulkhead, like above. but f**k me its noisey, struggled all day sunday trying to hear co driver when it was running, plus the fact its leaking doesnt help. So its going to have to go outside or in the engine bay.
  18. In my limited experience, i find geting the torch angle's right is abig help.
  19. wseems to be fix, a quick blow through the feed pipe, i guess some ****e blocking the filter on the pick up pipe.
  20. Cheers Les, we changed the filter yesterday for one of a friends truck that was running fine, not ideal but its all we had. he put mine back on his truck and it still ran fine, but i still had the problems.
  21. Hoping someone can help with this. Yesterday while offroad at the local play and break site, i started to loose revs and power while going uphill, had to dip the clutch and build the revs up to try and get up the hill. Sometimes it went back to normal, revved fine and sounded right, then it would just loose it all again and struggle to run. Reading up on here about lift pump problems, it seems to point toward that, but my lift pump seems to be working, if i crack the bleed screw on the filter off and pump the lever, fuel comes out. the same happens when i undid the pipe from the lift pump and turned the engine over. It doesnt squirt out with any force, just seems to trickle out, i'm not sure how much should be coming out. so any ideas? i've changed the filter and there does not appear to be any problems with the fuel lines. i cracked the injectors off and all had fuel coming out. thanks
  22. We don't have things like that up here, they've only just started selling 56k modems.
