  1. I would probably get a large sticker made up near me that goes on my window or somewhere near, But the Lr4x4 ones are a good size to go by, About 8inches long or so. We would probably take them off after so it wouldnt be stepping on the toes of the forum, I have 4 large forum stickers on mine But theres still room for more!! Anyway Nice one dougie, We will just have to wait and see how the rest of the members feel. Going bed now zzzzzzzzzz Gnite tris
  2. Ps if all/many are interested in the username sticker idea mentioned by 'letsgetdirty' i would be happy to organise these (maybe with LR4x4 / logo incorperated???) and bring them along with me, as i know a man that can [/font] C'mon people that will be a good idea!! Dougie I think you should just get a poll of those people who would like that and then give us the bill and we can either give it to you then or post it?? I might get a large one for my front window Mind you people will know mine from the vibrations coming from my prop lol Tris ps: Im camping on a lovely site with showers etc right in Edale, Ive got a 7ft high tent with heater which sleeps 6 or 7 people so as I said before if anyone wants to crash there thats okay as im on my own, Its a 2 minute walk from 2 pubs.
  3. Hmmm is it still not risky using it on the road?? I suppose if you leather it on it would dribble on the road, But what if you put a very light coat on, Then again how much protection will that give? I can imagine rain spraying under the landy and it still dripping on the road. Is waxoyl really so expensive? To be able to work clean without worrying about it dripping on the road when using the landy id just use waxoyl. Tris
  4. Graham this is what I use with mud terrains, they work great and if you went for insa turbo dakars from mailorder4x4 you would pay about £200 plus postage for 4, As I said there is a slight catch on full lock, But I did fit them before I lifted mine and it still only caught a wee bit then on full lock. The insa turbos look quite chunky too almost like a 285. If the catching annoys you Im sure you can adjust the lock or just fit spacers. Tris Oh yes Im running 7x16s and the others beat me to it replying lol
  5. Some say 285s but really its going to be 265 75 16 and then you might have to play with the lock to stop it catching. And I have 30mm alloy spacers on mine as it caught bad on full lock even with a lift kit using 265s Tris
  6. I have never heard of anyone doing that myself?? IMHO most landrovers have this built into them, A self chassis lubrication, Well they do if there over 10 years old anyway, You see they leak oil from rocker gaskets, Sump gaskets, Breather pipes and when you drive them it sprays all up the chassis Seriously it sounds messy, And in the tech archive steve aka misreableoldgit has a neat method thinning down waxoyl etc to do the underneath which sounds very cost effective. Kind regards tris
  7. Cheers ralph, Thats okay I will leave any aston martins etc alone at the lights this time As for more damage to my account.......Well I dont think its possible to do more at the moment lol Goodnite all
  8. Thanks widget, Ralph Just wanted to make sure before I embark on my journey Just out of interest what happens if you accelerate to hard ralph?? tris
  9. Nice one mrs raceface!!! Pete will be in the passenger seat more often, Good video to!! I wish my mrs was as enthusiastic as that, She wont go up a kerb in the defender let alone the peaks Tris
  10. Evening fellas, Im off to treeblokes tomorrow to try a double cardon propshaft, Is it safe to take the front prop off at my house and drive it to bobs in diff lock without the prop on?? Dont want to risk damage as its an hours drive. Thanks tris
  11. Thats a good way of looking at it, Cars etc are money pits, And if you buy another you will only end up doing the same to that eventually, What you could as suggested is build the 110 so it lasts and lasts and you wont need to change again? It will be all your spec, A newer one might not. As the painting etc.....Just go for it!! Listen at the very worst it might have some bits in it and wont be in your face "I have just been painted shiney" But it will look fresh and very clean and besides if it looks carp then you should try again for what it costs, Or failing that just save up for a while and get it done cheap. Like I said it will look clean and fresh at the worst. The best advantage really is just to be under cover tris
  12. Steve, Ralph, Bob and the others thanks so much for helping me to understand, Im pretty much on my own here so I have to rely heavily on the forum, Its all to do with working out the cost and working out what I need and what I can get away with. Steve I will let the others know who told me to fit a wide angle, I shall write it on the end of a cricket bat and give them a close up Bob I will give you a call over the weekend to see what night is most convieniant next week, I still have your number. I dont think you know how much its appreciated. So here are the plans and what has happened so far.. Firstly I purchased from crappocks a 2inch lift full kit, Being used to cars and having unlabled boxes I put the thicker springs on the front and thin on the back forgetting the load carrying potential of a 90 needs thicker springs on the rear, As a result the total lift is 4inches, total accident but nice, The ride is good and there is no indication of a problem with the rear springs being on the front apart from a higher lift, So here is the plan.... Pete aka raceface has a set of rear 2inch lift springs, I will take my rear ones off which were meant for the front and replace them with the proper rear springs of pete's along with a 2inch spacer hence giving me 4inch on the back. Shock absorbers will be played about with after. (I will probably weld mounts on lower and change front turrets) Then if the propshaft of bobs cures the vibration I will fit a double cardon, And perhaps use the extended piston type prop I bought for the front on the rear?? There are some arms on the back which are squashing the bushes with the lift and I was wondering about having them kinked?? So unless anyone has a warning about using rear springs on the front then what i have accidently found is by using 4 rear springs and a spacer on the rear a 2inch lift becomes a 4inch, Its just the shockers that need tweaked Cor me head!! I should stick to painting Thanks tris
  13. CHUNKY MONKEY

    LOL

  14. Thanks ralph,Right I got that basicaly its like being straight then cut in the middle and welded back together slightly out of line I would have thought it would be spot on as from the shop?? Hmmm if bob gets intouch and the double cardon sorts it I might save for the radius arms unless I get my ones kinked?
  15. Would you mind bob? That would be really good to do. When Could I pop over to try??? tris
  16. Its a thirty degree wide angle I have but im struggling to understand what you mean?? splines??
  17. Hmmm I dont know about that?? So your saying its possible the vibration could go if the correction arms are fitted, If im thinking right they have bushes on the end and lifting it squashes the bottom of the bush and pulls the top away?? I did look earlier at the back ones~? And the bushes were as I just described. Trust me.. Aint no out of balance wheel making this noise (As he runs outside to check)
  18. I know, That would be perfect getting someone with a bit of experiance to say yeigh or neigh on this suspension! Hmmm fancy a holiday ralph? All expenses paid trip to sunny tamworth If you came up here ralph you would have to have locking wheel nuts......Know what I mean? Its like the local creche play with guns and knives up here not dolls and power rangers. Thanks anyway ralph
  19. I Just couldnt afford the double cardon prop, I think I have listened to a few people with the wrong idea, Not on here but elsewhere a lot told me a wide angle will do Ralph sounds like your set up is nice so thats what I will do tomorrow. Im going to have to buy a new toy for the defender to cheer myself up now!
  20. I havnt done anything with the arms I think you right ralph but I really wanted to keep that lift If there is nothing else to be done then Id better admit defeat Darn Darn Darn!!!!!!!!!!! ( Notice the family friendly language)
  21. Evening all. Im getting regular with this propshaft problems. So as it goes so far I posted about the lift I have at the front, The front sits roughly at a 4 inch lift and the rear 3. So I fitted a new heavy duty 30 degree wide angle extended prop to rid any unwanted vibration, To be honest it wasnt too bad with the standard prop but I changed it anyway. Now changed with the new prop the vibration seems to be worse than ever! feathering the throttle at 3rd gear at 30 gives groaning and rumbling and the same in 4th until you are up the rev range. It is so bad I wont use the landy until Its sorted. Any Ideas what the next step is????? Hope all are well Tris
  22. I advise not to mess with etch primer and the like, You will need activators etc to go with it, And I dont see the need for using high build after really, you will need it etch primed if you flat to bare metal as any other primer wont stick really. I think if you arnt experianced with painting then as has been mentioned just get the rollers out! It can be a mine field when trying to paint yourself, I know as its my trade. Mind you if its only a very small area of where the aluminium has corroded and I mean small then give it a good key with 400 and nothing finer, Then aerosol a patch of high build primer, Rub the rest of the vehicle with grey scotchbrite or 1200 or 800 in straight rubs with wet and dry or anyhow with the scotch, Once you have done this then stick with a very similar colour, If you can get hold of a compressor and gun with a 1.4 tip then put 2 or 3 coats of base coat on, No laquer as it gets dodgy then so stick with base coat, Drying will be a problem so you have to do it in warm weather under cover. Depending on what it looks like it probably needs mopping with different stages of compound then. That is half way to a proffesionel job, But it depends how fussy you want to be?? I honestly think just get the rollers out, its what a lot do!! Otherwise if your going to try to do it as best you can then practise first. You are always welcome to get intouch and I will talk you through it when the time comes. Kind regards tris
