  1. Moving away from those tyres just slightly, Have you looked at the insa turbo dakar?? Its almost identical to bfg mud and i havnt got stuck with it yet, Its a cracking tyre. Also retreads should cost roughly half that of genuine, My 265 75 16 cost me £200, Less than half the price of bfg, So if they wear out sooner they still wont work out more expensive to run, You can buy 9 remoulds for the price of 4 bfg. Thats my logic to it
  2. I was just going to post " Ralph, WHERE YA GONE!!" You can always count on you for this stuff, thanks a lot !!

Part numbers "NRC9700" and "ANR3578" sorry its a small question but dont want to order the wrong one, which i have a habit of doing lol kind regards to all tris
  4. Hi there jurriaan..ive just bought a guardian winch bumper off ebay uk,its tubular heavy duty and allows very high aproach angles. it has a built in A bar too, he does a model to accept a warn winch, i think its £40 more than a standard at £225, might be to cheap for you? but i can vouch for it! he builds them himself.....look at my profile picture to the left and you will see it. click on my profile for a better pic, kind regards tris
  5. spiders? you can get surface imperfections out with a compound and a mop, oxidation needs repairing properly, I said before if you go see Kenny Doulle on the carse 01463 230302 he will do it, he charges about 100 for a whole bonnet max, He would do it very cheaply, I worked for him and got a lot of training off him before moving to a bodyshop in england. On another note i posted the paint for you today to do your cross member.
  6. Thanks ever so much eveybody, Thats really helped out a lot!!!!

  10. Hello people, A wee problem arose late last night, went out for a spot of green laning which didnt end well. The rear spring fell out on the back and furthur investigation at 1am this morning revealed where the rear spring sits on the axle on the rear there is a plate at the bottom that is badly corroded, The bolts that run through it into the axle have sheared off inturn causing the plate to fall off, Whats to be done fellas?!!? i cant stand driving the passat i need the landy!! Kind regards to all Tris
  11. People once again i apologise, i only wanted to warn you,its funny...when i had to sit my english exam in the hospital the results came back that the storys i told where spell binding but they were difficult to read, never thought ten years later it would be coming back to haunt me, a quick mention would have helped, but starting out to help warn other people has turned into a topic about my grammer, I am sorry for this, and to be honest i dont know how i will post now without thinking people have labeled me as schooling impaired. just a little thought about others feeings, i have understood yours and said sorry and i would try harder, did you guys not think how it would make me feel to be talked about over and over again? your supposed to be my landrover friends,.....just once would have been okay, i said i would try. kind regards to all tris
  12. kiltarlity way, your in paradise, miss being there with all heart, worked at Delmore Cars Skoda for 3 years, go see kenny doulle on the carse ind estate, he will sort that very cheaply,i used to work for him, hope you get sorted, to be honest though as a trained painter a quick rub down with 400 for rusty bits and a light rub all over, then the wilko gloss enamel is without any doubt "perfect" its so thick that nothing will penetrate its finish for years if properly done, i wouldnt bother getting the compressor going
  13. Thats the way to do it!! i went in a farmers 90 once, there were dead crows wedged down the side of the seat that had maggots in them!! Least you aint that bad
  14. I reckon you can get it level as good as spot on,i dont think it will slide forward, You know what would be good but probably a waste of money () if you had them covered in the same trim as the originals, bet it would cost a fortune though
  15. Blimey your gonna be high up there!!! it is mostly trial and error, you did the right thing by trial fitting them in first ,i hope you get it fully sorted and enyoy them!!
  16. Give it a good sand or wire brush and if you only "rattle can spraying" then definateley do this, go to wilko and get a tin of black spray enamel at £2 a spray can,im in the trade so i know about me paints and as a quick diy then this is good, Its thicker than hammerite, so do a dust coat and then two normal coats ps.. i used to live in beauly and then muir of ord
  17. I didnt do to well at english,i myself spent 2 years in hospital and missed most of my exams with the treatment, so im sorry if the punctuation isnt up to your standard my friend, i will however make every effort to improve, although i dont really know how to use a computer properly either, i try better my friend, and for anybody else reading this who also is annoyed then its the first long one ive done on the defender forum and i really only wanted to warn you guys, hitting enter buttons and things like that i dont even know where half of them are.i will keep them shorter people.
  18. Its not often i complain about a shop, but i do feel i should let you guys know this,3 times ive been to craddocks the first time was to see the techs out the back about an oil filter housing,i phoned up and the guy in the shop said "come over and theres bound to be an oil filter housing you can have off the salvage line up" i drove about 15 miles plus only to be told when i got there i couldnt have one, they wouldnt take it off an engine and the guy in the shop was wrong, not only this but the mechanics didnt have a clue about the differences in oil filter housings between the defender Tdis,i went home very disappointed, since then i have had many let downs until this final one, on the saturday i went in to the shop and spent a small fortune on suspension and accesorys, later that day i remembered brake lines,i went onto ebay and john craddocks were listing 4 sets of 50mm extended brake lines,i bought one set, monday morning i phoned, they had no idea what i was on about, eventually i was put through to someone who said they had found my order,i asked if it was okay for my father to collect them later that day as my defender was on axle stands, they said yes they had my order and they would be put behind the counter, i finished removing my brake lines, later that day my father rang from a phone box!! "i asked for the brake lines and they have no idea who you are or what your order is"he said i phoned them straight away and told them they had only spoke to me earlier and had confirmed everything, they had no idea what i was talking about, eventualy after being put on hold fof 8 minutes to a nationel rate number from a mobile they apologised and said send your father back in for them,my father who has terrible rheumatism and is nearly 70 years old, phoned me again,he said he went back in and stood in a queue for nearly 20 minutes, when he spoke again to them they told him they hadnt got them and they would have to order them,my father reminded them that they were advertising they had four sets in stock,IN STOCK 4 SETS OF 50MM EXTENDED BRAKE LINES" were the exact words,i phoned and said my defender was on axle stands and they assured me they were "on the van" ready to be collected in the morning, they said they would phone when it came in,the next day(tuesday)no phone call,i phoned at 1 30 pm,they had no idea who i was again! when they did they said there not in yet but the vans due in any minute,we will phone you...... no phone call...... its now wednesday the next day at 3.00pm and i had nothing so i phoned, and asked for a manager....he inturn had no idea who i was or what the order was and asked if he could phone back...........1 hour later he phoned and said that the brake lines were not on the van at all and were never going to be,they wouldnt be in for 2 to 3 weeks....i reminded him that i have spent nearly 2k with him and it was terrible service, i had no compensation and refitted my old brake lines, another set is on its way from elsewhere.im so annoyed and thought you fellas ought to know,im not telling tales,im just livid, needless to say i have since found out about Llama 4x4
  19. ive just fitted pro comp and im bricking it now!!! who do you go to if they fail??? the shop or pro comp direct??? theyve only been 3 weeks,i thought they looked okay, but then again i brought mine from john craddock 4x4 who has been the worst ever shop to deal with,im doing a topic on it later
  20. i personely think that the 200tdi goes longer and is more reliable to an extent, but the 300 has a little better performance and is quieter running apparentley?? but the 200 can be tweaked with minimul effort to be quicker than the 300tdi,really i wouldnt like the call, but id end up with the 200 as i think its more simple than the 300, wait for the experts to come anyway
  21. Welcome to the forum, and may the mods have mercy on your soul.....Nah there a good bunch here really!! if you check out ebay your not far off with 2grand for something,if you scraped a little more youd have a better chance,if you look for one with dodgy paintwork maybe you could get it cheaper, painting its easy id help you with that, hope you get on okay
  22. my gauge shoots up on my 200tdi and i know others that do it,what to do is quite technical..raise your right hand..extend finger and give to or 3 hard wraps as your driving on the temp guage, hope that solves that at least...landrover temp guages are not to trust worthy,i get this problem every day,if its not that then flush the radiator check thermostat, pipes err thats about my limit...hope you gets on okay
  23. can you get other runners from a tat yard to make them fit that are the same height??like old escort runners? looks quite hard to me in your link and im wondering what the finished job would look like. keep us posted
