  1. I have run veggie for 3 years without mods, I dont recently as the modifications are coming on and need the best for the defender, But my defender runs cool anyway and always has done, Instead of going to all that trouble why dont you get a alloy panel or steel and block a section of the radiator off?? I did that when In the highlands driving through very cold glens and it warmed up great, The heater was hotter. kind regards tris
  2. I see!! I could have had one of those things if I wanted to, But I thought nah why do I want one of those nasty reliable hydrolic winchs!! At least I can cook on mine when it over heats And I wasnt allowed enough pocket money
  3. Why if I caught those dirty scoundrels doing that I know where i would be attatching my winch!!! I didnt realise it was a problem kids doing that, Its just bloody mindless. Gone are the days of knock and run......I wont give the arses chance with mine though, Bogmonster why wont they get far with yours?? what you done??
  4. Righto ralph, Thanks for confirming that for me
  5. Hello people you know how winches are always coming with cable not long enough for a landy battery under the seat, Well as the winch sdraw from say 300 to 600 amps on average could heavy duty welding power cable work to extend it, Say put the isolater between the original winch power cable and the welding power cable?? A winch bumper fabricator told me to use heavy duty welding power cable, But I always check with the boys on here first!!! Hope everybodys ok tris
  6. Why you wanna do that jim?? I would have though cooler the better?? I dont doubt you have a good reason for it I just wondered?? kind regards tris
  7. Send ma a pm with your address and I will post it for you no problem, Dont worry about postage, Just pass the favour on to other members if you can
  8. Its only the other members that are teaching me these things to look out for, There a good bunch! One other thing I dont know how old your defender is although looks like a tdi?? But your brake lines could be a real pig to do, Rusted and corroded at the joints, The caliper one seems to weather ok but the rest are beggars!!! It might be worth your while before you start to get a roll of copper brake pipe 25ft for a tenner, And borrow a flaring tool for back up so you can do your own. Im in the middle of doing mine, So far i have gone all the way back to the servo with new pipes and welded knew brackets onto the hub and chassis. Hope all goes well. tris
  9. Think you may have your answer there! You do have the extra weight of a Heavy duty winch bumper and winch. I have heavy duty springs and they havnt collapsed with my winch etc. Also if thats lift suspension you still have the standard brake lines which is dangerous to an extent, If they are standard height then no worries. Tris
  10. White goes with blue nice, And its colours landrover use to.
  11. Maybe it was fate?? Maybe you have to ask for something for it to find you quickly?? Im going to try thatURGENT.......blonde woman with four poster ramp and rr v8 engine for tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed hey
  12. Put that bit in the wanted section, Some one is bound to have one
  13. Whats your vehicle details?? Engine...Year etc, Put that on and one of us will tell you what it is, Failing that just ring up landrover, And failing that pop to your local bodyshop and look at the paint square charts, But im sure one of us will know. Tris
  14. Think I smell rocking horse poo on that one graham...Maybe get the dash top mounted one which is about £15 odd and modify it to go on the front, Cant see it being that hard to do?? Take off the little stand that it comes with and get some Really strong double sided tape on the back??? Or am I being rodger the bodger!!!
  15. I would say very good, As the 200tdi can be tweaked for more power easily, I have tweaked mine and it goes well, Much better than a standard td5, The rest of the boys will soon give you there opinions
  16. Yes i think there is, Its like a u bolt, Think there are 2 plates one with 3 Bolts on and a reinforcing plate which goes behind, Im fairly sure this is right, Anyway I have just dismantled a rear wheel carrier and have the peice your missing, If you want it I will post it down to you?? Word of warning it does accelerate the wear on the door hinges mounting a wheel on the rear door. tris
  17. Heavy duty springs are ok round corners I find, You just have to be careful because as I have found out Its not just a lift kit, Its new turret rings most likely, Longer brake lines, Then dislocation cones, Then the propshaft stands a good chance needing upgrading, So far my lift has cost nearly double again, And thats with me fitting it so no labour, Also props can be £200 plus. There will be rusted and seized nuts everywhere unless yours is quite new. It looks brilliant, It helps your off roading but Its very expensive and a pain in the ass.( All this I have found out from other members, les, SteveG,western etc so thanks guys) Worth It tho
  18. Cheers ollie, Might not get the grill on because of the winch but mesh is an option. I Loves me toys!! tris
  19. Thanks for that so far fellas, It is bloomin heavy, The bonnet creaks and groans every time its opened to, Im glad I found out about the damage that could be done MO , And muddy it does bug me its a different size to, But a cover is a good idea. Hmmmm think I can see where this is going. tris
  20. Hello people, Something has been bugging me for a while now, I placed a second spare wheel on my bonnet, There are a few things Im unsure of, Firstly It was meant as kind of an enhancement but a few defender drivers have quiet blunty said it looks pants, As i dont really need and Im not sure of how it looks would you guys please tell me your opinions? Secondly as fuel is so expensive and the defenders used a lot would this effect fuel consumption?? Thirdly my tyres are 265 75 16, And my spares are still the original 205s, In the event of a puncture would this cause damage or increased wear to the axles etc on a long run home?? Its not a vital topic but Id love to hear what some of you think. Kindest regards to all tris
  21. Wd40 is good i use that, But i wonder if its getting a lot of dirt and water that white grease or some thicker grease might disperse the water better, Anything i have that is subjected to water gets thick grease or white spray grease, I use grease to stop the winch going rusty or dry. (couldnt resist having another look at this topic!)
