  1. NIge, I'm with you on this. Turrets and shock mountings need to be matched to your shocks. I certainly won't be going shorter/lower. And my rear tub is going to get cut rather than fit extended bump stops. If you fancy a small production run like the kittygripper I'd be interrested in moderately higher rear shock mounts. If you're fitting 15" shocks to the front I guess this is with 3-link cos the stock radius arms won't let you use anything like that sort of travel?
  2. Oh yeh, I forgot the NS mirror. Had to replace that too but I'd already bought a replacement after Minstead where I managed to put a couple of cracks in it at the first punch so finishing it at Slindon was no big deal.
  3. Si, my 3.54 diffs have been stripped for shims and bolts and the ARB fitted into one of the cases. I've also swapped out my transfer box for a rangie 1.192 which with the 4.7s and Simex gave perfect gearing for the road and a nice spread between hi and low range. Will Warne has taken the original 1.67 off me. Using 3.54s is an option but it means using a 1.67 transfer box (unless you've got auto of course) which are not easy to get hold of, to get the on road gearing right, and then adding some Ashcroft crawler gears and perhaps the crawler box for the off road stuff. Well out of my budget. I've been running the series diffs for a while now and they've been fine. But with the ARB fitted I'd managed to get the truck nose up and cross axled enough to dislocate a rear spring while putting lots of torque through to the one wheel left carrying all the weight. Guess I found the weakest link As an interim measure I'll be just be leaving the ARB out. Might need to winch more but I've done much better on earlier events with open diffs. Very dissapointed that the R&P gave out so soon though and really feel I'd have done better without the ARB cos like you say 2WD is better than 1WD. So, anyone got any cheap series diffs I can carry as spares?
  4. Well, I can now open my drivers door from the outside and a shiney new indicator repeater has been refitted to the wing (had to flatten that area). Never really been into stickers before but the wihite stuff stickers disguise the worst of the missing paint quite well though their positioning looks decidedly odd The steering gaurd is well bent, probably the result of having to use more enthusiam to get through in 2wd, but it will live for another day. Still got the diff to sort and strangely the brake lights aren't working. Seems to be the brake light switch which is at fault. Bit of a surprise, anyone else had to replace a brake light switch?
  5. Hmm, Jon White - 'Likes it with vaseline'

    Winches

Well I didn't expect to be seeing Huskies so soon on the new forum. Quite lowered the tone
  8. Try telling the chemist that with a straight face when you ask for a supersize tub of vasoline and an economy pack of disposable gloves?
  9. I agree. Its good to see the Honiton Hobbit back amongst us and I think he's using the forum to TOR's advantage by pointing out upcoming articles of interrest to us. Hopefuly he will also be looking for ideas on copy that the forum members would want to see. Just a shame TOR is not on many news agent shelves. Other mags could do well to follow his example. We've got a good set of mods and we need to support them (and ourselves) by keeping them free from outside influences. Seems to be lots of us willing to chip in to keep the forum going and indications are its not hugely expensive to run. So I vote no to sponsorship. Lets keep our independence.
  10. quite agree but I'll not be buying KAM R&Ps on this months budget
  11. Tony, I'd love to and hope you have a great weekend but I've still to fix all my broken bits after Slindon
  12. Hmm, I thought this was meant to be a family forum
  13. And look at this polite bunch all neatly pulled in to let a rambler by. Must be another fake
  14. OK try My Controls - Subscriptions and unsubscribe from all forums. Also check under email settings you don't have the autosubscribe option ticked.
  15. Turning off email notification for PMs is done in 'My Controls' - 'Email Settings'
  16. The 'Goto last unread' unread button on the threads are quite useful avoiding the need to scroll ast the read stuff.
  17. does this have any relationship to eDonkey2000? That was good for finding stuff.
  18. Mark, same as me. FF 1.0.6 and XP SP2, works great
  19. Will, that site is NOT office friendly
  20. Since Rob posted this I've been using the 'Goto last unread' icon: that prefixes thread titles with new replies and find it very usefull. Whether the thread fits a page or spans several pages it works fine. Only used it from the laptop so far but on several networks.
  21. Ali, we've been all waiting here hoping you would enlighten us
  22. Mines done. Thanks for helping us all settle in Les
